Dafuq?
Houston is light years better to live in than Nola. Dumbass.

I love New Orleans more, but Houston is just objectively better in nearly every way. It makes me sad actually. If smart, productive people like myself would just stay instead of moving on to better places, Nola would probably take that next step. I feel guilty leaving home behind, left to the average among my people. Sorry, guys.

Go to bed in your section 8 housing.

I can get a job in my field anywhere so that part of Houston's attraction is non-existent for me. It's a geographical shithole that is less attractive than NoLA. I have family that live there and I visit. I wish they'd move to N.C., TN. or somewhere more scenic.

After spending much time in both places, they're both low lying trash cities full of crime and lacking in scenery, and undesirable to raise a family in. Definitely towards the bottom of any list I have.

You hate NOLA? I grew up here and I love this community. To each his own I guess... Enjoy houston my dude. No issues.

and lacking in scenery,
I read an interesting article the other day how more and more people are working remotely and are preferring to live in areas with plenty of scenery with outdoor activities.

I agree with that but I was lucky. My best friends are:
Senior VP at Gartner working remotely
Teacher
Project Manager at Entergy
Obviously the senior VP at Gartner makes a bit more than me haha

Exactly what my wife and I are doing. She works remotely, I can find work anywhere due to my profession. It's liberating to be able to choose the environment you raise your family in.

I think that’s great

Working remotely is the only way I can live in NOLA. The job market here is terrible. But I just need a bare minimum six figure job here to do well

I realize reading this thread... People who only ever lived on north shore, JP etx.. Shouldn't be able to answer this stuff. Of course the suburbs of nola are shitty compared to houston. I live uptown nola. Houston has nothing that compares

To me this boils down for most, do you want a suburb with the following
Do you like crime, a city filled with poor trashy people, shitty schools but it's closer to lots of festivals and saints and tigers.
Or
A suburb with much better housing, mostly upper middle class, great schools, great job market.
Food is comparable in both. Only retards think otherwise. Both are amazing for cities. The food in the burbs in Nola is way over rated too.
Personally imo, most of the things to do in NOLA are filled with trashy people from every race. I'm in my late 30s with kids and find jazz fest horrible.
I have tons of family in Nola and we go a ton, but I just find almost everything run down. Driving anywhere other than the garden district or old meterie is depressing with all the blight. Even many restaurants look run down.
Shopping sucks in Nola. Housing every where other than St Charles and old met and s few small pockets here and there suck dick. Burb housing sucks. Schools suck in Nola. Even many of the private school kids...I wouldn't want my kids hanging with those kids.
The economy sucks major arse in Nola too. Youth sports is much better in Houston also.
As far as soulless city and the people being better in Nola...wtf do y'all do in a daily basis? I work and come home to my kids, I might see my friends in the weekends if we aren't doing something as a family. When do have all this time to go experience all of this so called great culture?
You know by when the pros to something is the people.... Well you've lost the argument.

Look at my reply. I called it. Most people in this thread are comparing suburb to houston. Everyone knows the suburbs in NOLA are terrible. Worst of both worlds.
Would you say the same comparing garden district living to anywhere in Houston? That's where I live... I'm a block off magazine and there is nothing in houston comparable to my lifestyle my guy. Comparing kenner to nice neighborhoods in houston is stupid.
