But, the biggest difference compared to Cinco, Sugar Land, etc. is that the Woodlands in not a pass through community. Its boundaries are well defined and it creates what we call the bubble. It allows local law enforcement to easily filtrate the undesirables too. Also, the Township structure has an aggressive/protective board overseeing everything (though they can be a PIA sometimes).

That sounds completely miserable.

This is the true in real life as well. Not just on this site.

While not a NOLA observation, are you aware of the BR Jonesing epidemic? Dude. The people killing themselves to arrive in UClub at any cost is crazy.

When we visit family in BR, we can't wait to get back to TX.

Actually, it quite comforting. Some people will applaud Sugar Land, but that place actually faces a lot of crime because of how people pass through it.

sure but most of the Houston posters gal in the same umbrella
Honestly, I think Houston posters probably have a better perspective because many of them were born and raised in Louisiana and even the New Orleans area, and moved to Houston. They have actually lived in both cities for a long time.

Most of the New Orleans posters have not lived in Houston and some have never even visited. They’re just defending their city’s honor.

I live in the loop and it’s pretty awesome as a single 26 year old guy. Pretty safe too.

To some I suppose not. Me and mine actually like the security and the Township not allowing people to trash up their homes.

Still, one thing I don't like is having to store my boat a mile away at a storage facility, but if they allowed it, you'd have trailers and shite everywhere.

Guess what, The Woodlands has far more high net worth people in it than the entire NOLA metro area......think about that.

You're comparing a suburb with 100k people thats 30 miles from Houston to a City with 400k people?

If you want to compare suburbs we can compare Mandeville/Covington to the Woodlands if you'd like...or even St Charles Parish to the Woodlands.

The numbers may still be in your favor but at least we can keep you honest.

I was making a case when you threw out the 30k millionaires.

Seriously, Mandeville/Covington will come no where even close......

These threads are such a waste of time. The low IQ folks speaking in broad generalizations about the blandness of Houston and lack of a good food scene are even more idiotic than the "better bring your bulletproof vest" anti-New Orleans crowd. It's incredibly disingenuous to compare a Houston suburb lifestyle to an Orleans Parish lifestyle, which is what every one of these threads devolves into.

New Orleans is more expensive. I was shocked at how expensive and shitty Nola grocery stores are.

This is a valid point... part of that is most local governments here in LA still put a sales tax on groceries.

For the love of God, why can't we get HEB to expand to LA?

its why I'm kinda afraid to move to Houston or Dallas because I know that I would have to live in the burbs and I know that I would absolutely hate it
keep fighting the good fight brother
An extra $17,000/year isn’t worth living in the Texas burbs

I do think the city comes off as being bland and/or tacky for good reason though. It's not a architectural paradise, it doesn't have interesting topography or fantastic parks, and it's very sprawling and decentralized. I mean, there are cool parts but it has nothing on places like NYC, Chicago, New Orleans, San Francisco, etc.
For sure. There are still pockets of the city that are really nice aesthetically, but it's not nearly as pervasive as those places.

I've always liked the Astros, even as a kid, even before and after the time I lived there.

But, are there any actual Texans fans there? Seems like most people go to Texans games just as a corporate outing. There are more Titans/Oilers fans in Houston, than Texans fans. FACT.

CFA has figured it out.

If HEB used the hiring practices of, say, Winn Dixie, here in LA, then yes, a problem.

I don't see why they would.
