Shotgun in the back window for sure. Don't remember a designated smoking area though. I think the smokers would just smoke in the parking lot by their cars.

I was in high school from 66-70 at Chalmette High and there were no smoking areas that I was aware of, and I was a casual smoker back then.
Guys would head to the restroom and smoke there and many times get busted by Tommy "Bumper" Warner who was one of the coaches at the time.

Yep, we had smoking areas when I was in high school and some would have shotguns hung in the back window. Damn good times.
We used to sit in circles in the smoking area at lunch and smoke weed every day and the teachers didn't even bother trying to catch us

My HS had a fenced in area to smoke, I had a biology class and would throw frogs on them, it was better than dissecting them ??

We actually got a holiday the Monday after opening weekend of rifle season. The good old days!

I remember but I didn't smoke. I did dip in class & had a spit bottle on my desk. My Sr yr is when they started to ban tobacco products. I just used a pocket spitoon.

It amazes me how old some people are that post here, and I am not young.

A bunch of my buddies and me would hang out in the boy's bathroom and dip Skoal. Weird to think we used to do that now as a 53 year old..

We had a place across the street called Bunks Burgers. Made the most wicked chili cheese and frito pie.
Anyway, that's where the smoking area was for us. There was a campus spot no body used, because we had an open campus.
Bunks was good for -
Food
Smokes ( tobacco/weed) it didn't matter
Free fights, you going to fight take it off campus

I can't believe we've made it to page 3 w/o a reference to that great rock song, "Smoking in the Boys Room." I'm actually old enough to remember when that was a hit the first time it was done in '73 by Brownsville Station.

Class of '86.
Not only did we have a smoking area, my western Ky high school FFA raised two acres of tobacco as a yearly fund raiser.

The majority of kids in my high school had or had access to a automobile.
There were some with newer cars but most were hand me downs from grand parents, parents, that were driven by older siblings before or purchased by working summer jobs. This was late late 70's and early 80's.
A good majority of kids were gear heads that swapped engines, rear ends, made mods and did whatever to get down the road, sometimes very quickly.
Mostly middle class kids.
Also, had a smoking court. Was not a smoker though.

I remember where it was but you weren’t allowed to use it. I know people who graduated from the same high school in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Everyone was out there. They would even smoke weed.

I was born in the 70s, but don't really remember smoking areas. I do remember the Teacher's Lounge used to reek of cigs back in Middle School, though.

the smoking area was behind the gym close to the parking lot. Most kids carried a pocket knife every day and a shotgun in the rear window rack was common…we would leave for the day and go straight to the woods to squirrel hunt
BTW nobody I knew carried or even owned a handgun. I don’t think I even ever shot a handgun until after I graduated college, it just wasn’t a thing. You either had a 22 rifle or a shotgun
Brother John join y'all?
