33 in June. 3 boys all productive citizens, no grands yet.

We dated 5 years, no secrets, no jealousy.

20 years in October.

We got married a month after 9/11 and my wife of one day almost got arrested going through security at the airport because someone put her Grandmother's antique cake knife (that we used to cut the cake) in her backpack.

I went through security first and turned around when she wasn't right beside me. For a split second, I thought she really did something wrong and almost split. We ended up putting the cake knife in a locker and going back through security.

Married for 7 years and been together for almost 10 years. We have two kids, good jobs, and a great network of friends. Wife just started a side business that has taken off recently so we are starting to be OT ballers

Samesies!

Well, almost. Wife and I got married 3 days after 9/11. 20 years this year.

I’m seriously impressed by the number of long-term marriages on this board.

13 very happy years. Sure, we argue occasionally but are both good at apologizing and forgiving. He’s the best part of my day, is the most interesting and fun person I know, and nothing would make me quit him.

I am a pretty traditional and conservative person. That makes marriage much easier because I treat my husband with respect. His opinions, desires and regard for me matter most. Likewise for him. Our family comes first and I like making him happy. The sex keeps getting better too.

All of the above make marriage much easier.

We don’t say mean things to each other or call names, either. Except the time, very early in the marriage, when I jokingly called him a fool (for something dumb, I’m sure). To which he replied, “I might be a fool, but you are now Mrs. Fool.”

24 years this July.

I guess it boils down to this:

1. We genuinely enjoy each other’s company. Doesn’t matter where we’re at, what we’re doing. It’s just better together.

2. We each put the other before ourself.

3. We put each other before anyone else, including our kids. And we have made sure to teach them this. When you’re married, your spouse is #1 in your life. Period. Yes, you love and care for your kids. And you make sure they know you both love them. But your spouse comes before anyone else, including friends, family, and even kids.

This is so important-parents remember things long after you’ve gotten over them.

We’ve been married for almost 38 years, and there things that I think have helped along the way. We both love music, sarcasm and sports. We share values and were in agreement about most things when raising our boys. We always prioritized our relationship, and it paid off when the nest emptied. We learned to give each other grace, which sounds like a minor detail, but is huge.
