If what Wal Mart said earlier is not convincing them of the new reality, then nothing will.

And of course people would vote for this

He promised on the campaign to get prices down and fast. I would expect we see groceries get cheaper and closer to 2019 prices by the summer of 2025. Even Trump acknowledged he won on promising cheaper groceries so this is important.

There are some naive people in this world.

The only realistic way to cut inflation sustainably is raising interest rates and Trump has consistently been a cheerleader for low rates because he sees a roaring stock market as an important sign of economic strength.

I forget the OT is full of brain raped libtards these days.

Groceries have certainly increased more than 3% a year the last 1.5 years.

Prices aren't going down.

Did anybody really think they would?

Inflation almost never reverses, and if it does that can be a problem too.

This was about trying to keep prices from continuing to go up, not bringing them down.

No, most of us just understand the basics of economics and a free-market economy.

What is your basis for this assertion?

Trump literally said numerous times on the campaign trail he would “immediately” bring the price of groceries down. Millions of people voted for him based on that promise. I don’t think it’s out of line to expect a quick reduction in prices based on what Trump has explicitly promised. He isn’t like other politicians and keeps the promises he makes.

Because the majority of people are sheep/and or stupid and don't understand how basic economics work.

Like you.

It's not a wave the magic wand and everything is better thing.

holy shite man you cannot believe that he or anyone else can just wave their hands around and reduce grocery prices. Please say you don’t really think this

maybe he can rebrand all the stores to “patriot pantries”. That should work

You got a link?

Let's first make sure you know what I'm saying.

I'm not saying the rate of inflation can't go down. But the rate of inflation is not the same as price.

If prices rise due to inflation that kicks in in 2023 on a loaf of bread from $3 to $5 over a two year period and then the rate of inflation goes down to what it was before the inflationary spike, that doesn't mean the price of bread goes back down to $3.

It stays at $5. That's the new baseline.

It just doesn't continue to rise at an accelerated rate.

There are exceptions to this, but they don't happen often and there's no reason to believe that they will this time.

His first term had record spending and tariffs. He wants more of that, prices don't go down in that environment.

Prices can go down on certain items. Milk goes up and down, as do a lot of meats. I’m not as sure there will be significant drops in a lot of boxed or canned foods, but diesel coming down may drop some of those as well.

What makes you think diesel is coming down?

Everything I see projects it to continue to average roughly $3.50 a gallon throughout 2025.

Or do you mean the effect of it having already come down in early 2024 from 2023?
