Yesterday was a mess. The very first car, the driver got out of his car and went in the school to pick up Brayden. Chit Chat with the teacher at your own time.

10 Commandments of School Drop Off & Pick Up
1. Thou shalt drive in the correct direction.

2. Thou shalt not park thy car wherever thou please.

3. Thou shalt not drive like an Andretti brother.

4. Thou shalt not treat the drop off and pick up lane as thy personal social gathering.

5. Thou shalt recognize that there is a line for dropping off and picking up.

6. Thou shalt get thy life together BEFORE dropping off or picking up thy kids.

7. Thou shalt get off thy phone and halt thy Tweeting and Instagraming and Pinteresting and Facebooking until AFTER the deed is done.

8. Thou shalt not form a blockade preventing other parents from entering the school or locating their children at release time.

9. Thou shalt hold the door for fellow parents if thou can.

10. Thou shalt not let everyone and thy brother exit school grounds before thee.

No clue. Bus picks up and drops off at the end of our driveway.

It takes about 15 min but it’s due to volume and limited access. But it’s a well-run machine given the limitations.

I can't understate how great morning pick up is. Picks up around 6:30, so it gives the wife and I a good hour to enjoy our coffee, have sexual relations, watch some TV, etc.

Bringing your kids to school when buses are available only destroys our society more. Can't you just show off your over priced shitty White Yukon at his travel ball practice.......let the kid ride the bus.

Or if you live in my town...

11. Must be in pick up line 2 hours before school lets out, because let’s face it...you don’t have anything better to do.

Works pretty well at both the elementary school and the church we do pre-k at.

At the elementary school, it’s a single lane around the back so no driving-around shenanigans.

Parents don’t get out of the car (if you’re kid can’t hop out and close the door, you need to park and walk them in). This is pretty well enforced by the teachers.

At the pre-school, teachers and admins line up 4-5 at a time to help kids out of the cars and walk them to their classes. Very smooth.

It’s never taken me any longer than 5 minutes to drop off at the elementary school and maybe slightly longer than that at the pre-k.

At both schools, very clear institutions are sent out explaining carpool procedures before the first day. And generally speaking, everyone appreciates the fact that it works and don’t want to screw things up.

Gotta love those moms that camp out in the pickup line an hour early with the latest Nicholas Sparks book
