Thinking about sending our kids to the school but the wife and I are wondering how the school is academically and religiously what its future outlook is?
St. Thomas Moore. Not St. Michael

Really good academically but lacking athletically. They are getting better but still far behind St George and Aloy in athletics.

Damm. Back around 2005 when my kid was playing sports for MBS, STM was normally a very good team.

They are tough on the kids, but it prepares them for the future.

Athletics should not factor.

In matters of self discipline/mastery and academic excellence?

It doesn’t so I edited the post. I realize how it comes across. Was just looking for an assessment of the school.

my 2 oldest are grads, and my youngest is still there. i have zero regrets. current principal is an alum (same as me) and really does a good job and really cares about the kids.

I’m wondering given current home prices and the fact that this area has been neglected to some extent in that regard if that will open up the door for future generations to raise kids in the parish boundaries and send their kids to STM.

And here we go...

Good school, great pastor, great parents. Don’t go there. But nothing bad to say about any interaction with all of the above.
Who cares if it isn’t “elite” in athletics. None of our kids are playing pro or even D1 ball. Braxton and Jaxon might play for SW Miss Community College if they’re lucky.

Why not? I know not every kid will play sports, but it should be encouraged. You learn things through sports you can't learn in the classroom.

Do you mean St. Thomas Moore or St. Michael High School?

Decided not to put my kids there since I’ve heard a number of negative comments from parents about them over the years. Problems with the administration, overemphasis on homework and the school not handling a bullying situation well for example. They also used a lot of print books in the upper grades in lieu of tablets or iPads - maybe they changed that recently, but it seemed like they weren’t keeping up with technology like other schools in BR. That’s just what I’ve heard though. Tour the school and go with your gut instinct - if you like it and feel comfortable there, go with that.
