Ridiculous clown troll thread.

No sane person would entertain such a thought.

A lot of things are already closed for “maintenance” by wed. I used to spend thanksgiving in New Orleans a lot because of the fairgrounds. It’s… fine.

The Fairgrounds is awesome on Thanksgiving

The best day of the meet to go and the best people watching experience.

08, it’s a great place to take kids. I started going to the race track as a toddler. They like to see the ponies. And it will be safer than a lot of other places.

You'll have a great time if you stay Uptown. Take the kids to some nice restaurants and let them experience and learn. Ride the streetcar on St. Charles. The zoo is great that time of year and won't get much Bayou Classic traffic. I live in NOLA and would never know the Bayou Classic is going on unless I were in the French Quarter or by the Dome.

Fyi NO is one of the few touristy warm weather during winter time places.

Alternatives were San Diego (been twice), Hawaii (been 3 times and too expensive), Austin (nope), key west (too far, kids time off), or NO

Ok maybe I should veto this. I just wanted to go eat.

Ironically, many restaurants are having "Closed for Renovations Week" the same weekend.

I vote to do the opposite. I don't know where you are normally, but I'd go somewhere with a real fall.

It’s the worst weekend visit New Orleans.

You do not want to be downtown during Bayou Classic. We made the mistake one year and my friend was sucker punched for walking while white.

The OT recommends literally anywhere but NO during this time.

avoid NOLA during Thanksgiving, its Bayou Classic weekend, many of the local business owners close down for "repairs" and "remodeling" that week.

Yeah but you born into that lifestyle and culture.

That’s the same as taking my son fishing when he was 2 years old

I don’t know the OP but I don’t think they are into horses or ponies just yet.

To the point of some others, you wouldn’t even know about the bayou classic if you stay in and spend your time in uptown, so if that sounds good to you, go for it

I don’t know that I would want to travel here for that weekend though, considering a lot of the city becomes a no go zone

Probably worst time to be in NOLA. Look up Bayou Classic Weekend. The hotels are expensive and it's hard to get around town because people just clog up the streets driving back and forth.

We also get people riding 4 wheelers and non-street legal dirt bikes in herds through the streets, blasting through stop lights, riding wheelies at 50 mph, etc. NOPD basically does nothing because keeping the streets safe would be perceived as a KKK style lynching by the activist community.

There was a mother of 4 killed by one of these people drunk on an ATV once (literally ran over her at high speed). As far as I recall, NOPD found one or two of these groups posting their meetups on Instagram, then did a light hand slap and asked them to pretty please stop. I'm not sure there has ever been any large scale interdictions with mass arrests or vehicle confiscations.
