Hard to tell.

IMO he's smart but that doesn't necessarily mean intelligent.

I guess for me it depends on how much of the bullshite conspiracy theory crap does he buy into that he pushes on his program.

But having listened to him now for years, I have to say it’s pretty damn impressive the breadth of topics he can carry on long form discussions about. He seems pretty well read as well

He's a modern day Art Bell, (Or as close as someone could come these days)

Most of his interviews turn into discussions of mma and drugs pretty quickly. Only exceptions are some of the covid doctors he had on.

This is 100% nonsense. I’m no JR fanboy, but I’ve watched a ton of the interviews, and this is patently false

Extremely.

And to be clear, he possesses the sort of intelligence that is actually USEFUL.

My wife and I listened/watched a TON of the old "Ghost to Ghost AM" shows on Youtube.

Forgot how awesome those were.

He’s smart in some areas. Not so smart in others.

So pretty much like all of us.

He puts a lot of effort into talking to many different people who are experts in their field and learning from their experiences. He is flexible with his own "truths" and malleable enough to grow. To me this is a great sign of wisdom. Hard work, interst in learning, and malleable to change with newer better info (or use it as nuance).

I think I fall somewhere around this opinion of him.

I do think he seems to automatically believe the first thing Jamie pulls up from Google far too often though. He has this way of violating the "don't believe everything you read on the internet" thing.

Intelligent enough for sure. I think he also does the work to prepare for his interviews and most importantly in 2023 is open and fair.

He will openly admit that he is guilty of just reading the headline of an article and then moving on.

I mainly like the protect our parks episodes or any musicians.

1) says something as matter of fact
2) gets checked by guest
3) producer googles live and discovers Joe is wrong
4) says, "Hmmm! Interesting," and halfway concedes the pt

He’s not a genius. He’s very street smart and has a curious mind and can absorb lots of information. He’s probably one of the best interviewers ever. I don’t find his standup to be groundbreaking, but am glad he has his podcast.

From time to time I still go back and watch how he intelligently destroyed Sanja Gupta (I refuse to put doctor in front of his name) over Covid, Ivermectin and the CDC's propaganda campaign. It was a masterclass moment on how to deal with a smug little shithead's perceived strength, setting a trap then turning the tables on him. What Rogan did in the moment took a higher level of intelligence than the average podcast Joe out there.

Not incredibly, but he's definitely not dumb.

It is really tough to figure out his IQ. He sounds intelligent but he is a good talker. Just like a night show host on television. He reads up on topics before his shows. He knows how to ask questions and to respond to keep the conversation interesting. He can talk circles around most people.

I have heard some of his talking points that were flat out wrong and an expert in the area would destroy him in a one on one debate.

I think he is an average Joe (no pun intended) with an above average business acumen and people skills. It has worked out well for him. He did the complete opposite of what a lot of companies do.

I would say he’s experienced, not necessarily intelligent. He lives his life and has a lot of experiences under his belt.

I don't go into any of his podcasts with the impression that he is some scholar or whatever. But I do appreciate his curiosity, and overall basic knowledge of things. Some things he knows a lot about, some things not so much, but he listens and appears to learn as he goes. He is very well read, as he is constantly talking about books he's read. He seems to read anything his guests put out, which is a sign of an intelligent person for anyone who reads alot. I have watched some of his stand up, and he is funny in spots, but I don't find him super funny. More funny is the way of a my buddy friends when we have potty mouth talk, or locker room talk.

Smart enough to make a career out of talking into a microphone. He's not solving complex problems here.

IMO his best quality is being genuine. He's open minded, open to discourse (on most topics not MMA related ha), and is a good conversationist.

He knows a lot about a few topics, and knows little about a lot of topics. On the stuff he doesn't know about, he lets the people that are SMEs do the talking and asks good questions for his listeners (most times).
