It was few weeks back and was kind of clumsy. His point all-in-all was ok - use your "privilege" for good but in the context of the day it assumed "white privilege" was a thing.

I cut pastors a lot of slack - tough calling. But IMO, pastors need to speak to this and not avoid it. And when they do, they need to expose BLM's un-biblical agenda. I could go on.

Just wondering how others were handling it.

Our parish church has been Covid closed every Sunday since March. So I’d have no clue.

Pastors and priests need to stick to religion. What happened to George Floyd has nothing to do with religion.

It's easy to handle. It is taught that God loves everyone, it is up to you to try to receive salvation. Treat your neighbors well. We are all part of God's family. There is never a need to bring race into Christianity.

No person ever was more clear in a calling and example than the person of Jesus. From him crossing social barriers to minister to samaritans, women and lepers and “sinners”, Jesus showed us that we should love everyone regardless of their skin, social class or issues. Easier said than done for sure.

Racism is a sin. Other than that, nothing.

The Buddhist monks believe in practicing racial equality and respect and are beyond grateful to have the freedom in America they don’t have in Vietnam. They believe we are a great country and that we should practice equality in our own lives. They also believe that violence and vandalism is ignorance and that we should have compassion for those who live in ignorance because they are suffering and their suffering is self- induced. They believe that people should focus on ethical living in their own lives and not being attached to their anger, ignorance, resentment, hatred, etc. in short, they believe people should master themselves before presuming to impose all their negativity and unethical behavior onto society. Actually, eerily close to what a traditional Jesuit or Jordan Peterson or any other clear- thinking person would say. Do not be ruled by your emotions , never engage in violence and respect others who view life differently.

When you preach out of the word of God, you don’t need to address specific instances of hatred, strife, division, jealousy, stealing, bearing false witnesses, or coveting your neighbors stuff. You just need to preach out of the word of God and everything takes care of itself as it’s self explanatory what it applies to.

Furthermore, if you have the Love of God in you And know the word, you know what is of God and what stands against God.

I’ve pretty much decided the United Methodist church we’ve been a member of for a long time is gonna have to go. First it was the gay marriage thing where the minority (in favor of marrying gays, gay pastors, etc.) are taking the bulk of resources and forcing the majority (those opposed) to break off on their own. Then they went ‘all in’ on BLM and white privilege crap. It sucks but we’ll have to find another church to attend and donate to. They don’t want us anymore.

I agree. I was married in the Methodist Church although I was raised Catholic . It seems like fewer and fewer mainline churches offer clear and concise moral instruction anymore. I enjoy the simplicity and immediacy of a third world Buddhist service just as a meditation , - but it doesn’t do much from a Christian theological standpoint obviously.

The government has banned my church from holding services in person....supposedly for a pandemic. I don’t think it would be discussed in Church anyways.

Your church is open?

Pastors are shepherds. Sheep live IRL. Sheep hear every kind of aberrant voice imaginable ("systemic racism," "rampant police brutality," "white privilege/supremacy"). The sheep need to hear what the Word of God says to the issues of the day unless the Lord Jesus has no opinion on them.

IMO, that is sticking to religion.

Have been gathering on campus for about the last 6 weeks. Still offer online services. Attendance on-campus has been about 10-20% of pre-covid.

Sad because I knew him way back when he wasn't all about the money. In fact he stated one time that he'd never beg for money to go on TV because if he didn't have the money he wouldn't go on TV. Then, 3 years later, he's wanting some money for TV.
