How does the WNBA make it financially?

It has been widely reported that they have taken major losses every year that they’ve been in existence….is the NBA really able to subsidize them to the point where they literally never have to turn a profit? Who is really paying for this shite?
ETA: this isn’t on the more sports board because I’m only interested in the business

You answered your own question, what’s the point of this thread?

Not only does the NBA keep them afloat, the NBA leverages its value in network negotiations to force networks to overpay for the WNBA just so the WNBA seems more legitimate.

NBA financing them. Without the NBA, even with Caitlin Clark, that league would be cooked.

So the NBA does well enough to finance two leagues? And yet all I hear about is how bad the NBA is struggling. Both can't be true.

We've heard about cash infusions from the NBA for many years, but how much cash seems to be left out of the stories.
What does the bottom line look like for the most successful franchise, for the least?

Like women's college basketball programs, they all lose money

It's supposed to be a write-off for the league.
Which is why they hate Caitlin Clark. She ruins their whole plan by making it watchable.

I don't think the NBA regular-season product is great by any stretch of the imagination, but I also think that how "bad" the NBA is doing is greatly exaggerated by social media.

I'm sure the govt gives them a good deal so that lesbians can be professional athletes and complain about how they should be paid the same as NBA players

The same way that every sport besides basketball and football survives at the college level

They make the WNBA players get second jobs. I just hired a few to clean my gutters.

Yeah dude, the WNBA players are making like $50-60K. The NBA also forces some WNBA coverage to bring in at least some revenue.
