I have never had Kobe beef as an adult
When I was a kid I lived on Okinawa and my dad would get some but I do not remember much
I know they always had them in the ocean massaging them and my dad said they gave them old beer to drink:) not sure I believe that
Who here has actually eaten Kobe beef?
And is it really that amazing?

There is a huge difference in price between American Kobe and Japanese Kobe.
In general American Wagyu beef is nothing like the real Japanese Wagyu from Kobe. A big chunk of it is wangus anyway. Even the very top restaurants in the US have a hard time getting true Kobe. When Le Bernardin has to use beef from another Japanese region you know it has to be scarce. The chances of getting true Kobe in the US is very slim. It all gets scarfed up by the Japanese and they aren't afraid to pay exorbitant prices for quality food so it is near impossible to outbid them.

I say everything in moderation...excepts bullets in the gap.

Mississippi Pot Roast was created by Robin Chapman of Ripley, Mississippi. It ended up in her church cookbook and then on a couple of blogs. I tried it...
It had no flavor (except for way too much salt from the au jus) and was too greasy with a stick of butter. I’ll continue making roast like my momma...that’s stuffed with garlic, seasoned and browned and cooked on the stove top with onions and low salt beef broth.
I really can’t believe how anyone could like that crockpot stuff.

Yes, they do drink beer. They´re also in constrictive stalls, in the dark, and are given massages.
I´ve eaten.
Amazing. Yes. Very. I´ve had beef in other countries that comes close, but not equal.
I don´t know what they do now, this was in the late 90s and early 2000s.

That looks awesome.

Prime is an official USDA designation. You cant just slap it on a label to hike up the price.

Well you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

The last ribeyes I bought at the BC sams were damned good. However, ive bought meat there in the past that was shite and barely fit for a dog to eat. The last brisket I bought there was good as well. Which is good because Brookshires meat prices have gotten high as giraffe posse.

First when I heard of this recipe I was skeptical. But they convinced me it was delicious so I decided to give it a try. Turns out they were right
Same here but you’re right it turns out pretty good. Easy lazy day dish
I skip the butter though and put a pack of the powdered au jus in there

Sams meat is wonderful, and reasonably priced. I buy almost all my meat from there.

Sams has much better meat than Costco

Your first statement seriously makes me doubt your second statement.
I've tried the Mississippi Pot Roast. I won't try it again. It's way too heavy on the fat and salt. Yes, you need fat and salt, but not that much. There is more than enough fat in the chuck, and those premix packets of gravy and soup are sodium bombs.

Is it really prime?
Does it look like prime? I've seen choice that looked prime, and prime that looked choice. You have to learn to judge a cut of meat for yourself and ignore the label that was slapped on the package.

my takeaway from this thread is that some white trash POS put a packet of ranch dressing powder on some supposedly good meat.

Because they buy massive quantities of it
