How do you turn on a car that has gone into anti-theft mode?

Friend's daughter left the engine running too long on her Lexus. So the engine shut down and it went into anti theft mode. How do you turn it back on if you are the owner?

Press the alarm button on the key fob, this normally takes a Lexus out of anti-theft mode... but not always.

put master key in ignition and turn it on, then leave it like that. it takes 12-15 minutes to reset.
