I’ve recently outlawed being around folks that you don’t know well enough to know their parents or parent. The teens were in agreement.

Man, parenting is mostly leading by example anyway! If you try to force-feed them "culture" or bombard them with warnings, kids usually just tune it out or rebel. Let them experience things naturally and just be there to guide them when they actually ask questions!

The hordes of black teens that ended up getting the pickleball courts shut down after dark was enough for my teens to see what happens.

You teach them how to behave. Then they realize the culture themselves.

It is a jarring thing to teach your kids, who are being taught that being racist is slightly behind murder and child rape as far as being the worst thing in the world.
My daughter's best friend is a gay guy she has known since 2nd grade (both 20). He hasn't come out of the closet to his parents, so I had a talk with him.
Gays are particularly vulnerable to certain racial demographics. I made sure to stress the importance of awareness, alertness, and judgement in dealing with high risk groups. Obviously dont be a racist frickwit, but also don't doom yourself with naivete.

Grandson is in private a Christian school. They dont put up with B.S...if youre a trouble maker they boot you.
