but seriously, that's not a canker sore... those happen on or around the lips and gums...

-gargle with salt water
-dentist can prescribe rinses as well (Akin Solution is what i have used in the past)
-can get some over the counter gargles/rinses as well

Some say you shouldn't use peroxide at all. Others say you shouldn't use it after ether the 48 or 72 hour mark. All who have any level of non-anecdotal evidence agree that peroxide used after about 72 hours is more likely harmful than beneficial. Your mom, grandpa, etc may have done/still do it without any perceivable problems, but it's out of favor in the medical community. If you still have pain, try a chloroseptic spray when you eat or when you reach unbearable levels of pain. Otherwise, ride it out. Maybe take ibuprofen.

I've had what you are talking about on the back of my throat. Went to the doctor. That's probably not a regular canker sore. Mine was caused by a sore throat. Doctor gave me some antibiotics and it was gone in a day or two. It looked and felt just like a canker sore on my guns though. Hurt like hell.

Rub some herpes on it.

Red Marine Algae. Sounds gross but it works for me every time.
