It's the cure for a lot of mental illness as well.

You don't 'get cured'. People either quit because they are done with it and have changed internally on their own or they won't. And that's usually because they suffered enough to not want it again. I used to think we'd find pharmaceutical treatments for most disorders but that's turned out to be wrong too. We just dull symptoms.

We are all on our own choose your own adventure through this simulation. Most chose suffering for some reason.

It doesn't happen for everyone. But he is talking about your breaking point. At some point people do say enough is enough and make the change.


So, I think he is actually right. Hard to help an addict that doesn't want it.

Anyone that has not dealt with addiction personally has no idea about what it takes to change. It’s different for everyone and it is more difficult than you think.
