If it’s an internal extension I say “Hey this is James.”
If it’s from an outside number I say “Thanks for calling Twitter this is James.”
If it’s from an outside number I say “Thanks for calling Twitter this is James.”

Sometimes I announce my company. Keep in mind this is customers calling my cell. When I answer the office phone I almost always announce the company.

This. Drives me insane when I call a business and I don’t know who I’m talking to. I feel like people get offended when I ask who I am speaking with.

That’s an odd way to answer the phone. “Hello, and I’ve noticed that almost every caller’s first words are is this John or John” just seems a bit confusing. Do you follow that up with, “this is John, how may I assist you today”?
