Do you really think this is happening often? And do you think that doctors are so dumb to not be able to tell whether a patient dies from a stroke or ARDS?

I thought the hospitals were so over run? How do the doctors have enough time to write articles and update websites with death numbers?

If you ever read how some of these deaths are reported. They say stuff like.. 92 year old with underlying health conditions is dead. Tested positive for coronavirus. None of that means they died of respiratory failure.

Dunno how it works in medical terms, but I'd bet it's similar to "but for" cause in legal terms. That is to say, someone would not have died in this instance but for the corona virus contributing to respiratory distress/failure.

Probably. I have no clue. I do recall reading something a few days ago that compared one country's classification process to another's.

Generally medical examiners/coroners determine cause of death.

Also, doctors have to dictate reports for all cases. Those same doctors don't go updating websites. Different people do different things.

It's a fair question. Classification of deaths ultimately is an administrative decision.

But the OP's point is trying to make it seem like some covid-19 deaths could be overstated b/c doctors don't know what really killed them. By that rationale, someone could make the argument that many of the early deaths weren't reported b/c no one knew how much this was passing around. Many posters on this board think they had the virus weeks ago. If this was as prevalent as some believe and this has been spreading rapidly (again as many here believe) then you have to assume deaths were occurring that were simply being written off as something else.

frick you, fgt.

It’s a legitimate question. If they die of something else but they also have corona, how is it reported? I’m not disputing whether or not corona can kill you.

Stupid motherfricker

Probably. I really don't care about the OP. I'm more interested in any differences that there may be, and how the administrative process is effected.

I've always wondered about comorbidities and whether we were double counting for things like flu and heart disease, etc.

Per doctors I've spoken with that's not really possible, so I accept that. I have to think there is some after-the-fact determinations going on that skews real time numbers, but I could be wrong on that too.

Most reports I've seen use "Covid-19 related death." That's fair in that it is a factor, but may not be the only one.

Where? The argument isn't the hospitals are currently overrun, it's that the cases are increasing exponentially and will be overrun soon if measures aren't taken.

I know. But the guy was insinuating everything reported is accurate because a doctor would know the difference between ARDS and a stroke. Well the death reports arent necessarily saying this person died from acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Im just parroting the stupidity, including yours.
