How do some people answer texts but pretend that email is impossible to keep up with?

I truly do not understand how some people will keep up with all their texts and respond immediately but then require a text to notify them when you sent them an email. Can someone explain this, or at least try to?

It's literally the same thing and both give you notifications (unless you've turned off email notifications, and if you have, then what, the frick?).

When I’m working I barely respond to both.

honestly feels like texting can be kept short and sweet while emails require more detail and attention

It's easier to get through 10 texts in a day than 100 emails. Seems pretty obvious, Slow (intentional shortening of your screen name).

This makes a lot of sense.

Also, if it is personal, I just rarely email people. My gmail is usually just junk, so I don't check it as often. As a text or my work email.

I receive 100's of emails a day, most of it nothing important and I rarely miss something that does need a response, but it possible and easy to miss every now and then.

I don't communicate very much at work via text, so if I do get a text that's work related chances are I'll see it before I would an email.

I think the short answer is people still get so much spam that they only skim their inbox when they are expecting a specific email. That obscenely high number of unread emails in the inbox is just too intimidating to open up unless you have to.

One of the first things I had to do on my phone was turn off email notifications. I just get too much spam, and I'm someone that keeps up with my inboxes daily. I do have notifications for my favorites in my contacts, so I do see those, but if you're not a favorite I get no notification. Now go back to the people with over 10,000 unread messages in their inbox, you think they're organizing their contacts so they get email notifications?

With work, it's not that crazy to get 100-200 emails in a day from dozens of different people.

That doesn't happen with texts.

And if you're talking about non-work emails, I think for a lot of people there's so much spam and shite that you just don't bother to check your emails nearly as often as we did in the past.

See above, if you're getting 200 emails a day, of course you'll turn off notifications. I'm still not sure if this is for work or non-work, but why do I need email notifications for non-work email? No thanks.

I don't get CC'd on a bunch of texts that don't pertain to me.

Work emails - No

Non-work emails - Yes, I check it once every few days, I'm not bothering to delete a bunch of spam and unnecessary emails.

I do not want or get email notifications. This thread is weird, and you are one strange dude. Texts and emails are not even similar.

They're literally the same thing (text form of electronic communication). Texts, messages, etc. All the same thing.

People abuse email with forwards and cc:'s in order to create a paper trail. Text is people actually communicating.
