Same. We will sometimes be like "Lets go to Robert" just to walk around and buy snacks/wine Just went there a couple hours ago for wine. Went to Neighborhood WalMart at like 11AM too.

I'm the same way. I'm a basic bitch...gotta have my Target and Starbucks close by

In all seriousness though....dealing with all I'm dealing with my father's health....I see how important it is to have health care options close by. When you get older your health starts to go. You might need more specialists to go to. I couldn't imagine how we would get my dad to see all the specialists he currently sees (cardiologist, nephrologist, etc, etc) if they lived in some rural area. Having him 5 minutes from an ER brings me a sense of peace.

It sucks and it ruins the whole idyllic picture of retiring in the mountains, but it's reality.

I used to live right next door to a grocery store a few years ago and I'd think up reasons to go in two or three times a day.

I figure I could live an hour away from a city and still see the doctor. I'd probably die if I needed 911 though

They already had grocery delivery when i lived there in 2000

Grocery delivery in Manhattan was an important part of the beginning of the 1974 movie Death Wish.

I'm not sure why I remember that.

Live approximately 40 minutes from any major city in any direction. We buy groceries once a week.
We’re both retired so we go once a week or sometimes 2 weeks. The older you get you don’t really eat as much. I do not miss the stress of everyday traffic Living in the country is a way of life ..and a slower pace. We enjoy it. It’s our choice

Pretty accurate. I drove through rural Arkansas recently and they had population stats on the signs. Apparently 100 people is enough to support a Dollar General because every town had one.

You not counting Eupora as a major city? Got to be at least 2000 people living there.

In Europe some people go to 5-6 places to get what they need. A farm for eggs and milk and cheese. A bakery for bread. A pharmacy for medicines. It’s ridiculous how they haven’t figured out grocery stores.

I was in Colorado recently. It's amazing how far out some of those people live from civilization. We drove to a ghost town and ended up in the middle of absolutely nowhere. There's no way the people out there have cable, phone lines, etc. Probably two hours from the nearest grocery store.

35 minutes if I speed.

45 if I don't.

Peaceful.

There’s always a wal marks or dollar general within driving distance.
