re: How do people live without garages?

1/2 garage for my wife's car (she's usually transporting the kids. No pics). Other half for tools/lawn equipment/storage. I park in driveway near overhang. Can handle it if I get a couple drops on me. No criminal rummaging in my hood (not in NOLA). Hail, prolly good with tree protection but I guess you got me there. Oh well.

with this..... I refuse to let my wife fill our garage with crap and boxes because I will not go back to street parking.... always nice and dry, no defrosting windows when it's cold...it's the little things in life

People with garages full of stuff and their cars filling up the driveway has always bothered me. Maybe not in nice neighborhoods where there's tons of driveway space and the houses are large, but it looks terrible driving through those cookie cutter starter home neighborhoods where you can barely see the homes and all you see is everyone's cars.
Even worse the people who keep the garage open so you can see all their shite in it.
funny how many people are downvoting this. Im all for street parking for the garage gym, but jesus it looks horrible in the dr horton neighborhoods, especially on trash day.

The lady at the front of our street opened her garage the other day and had literal junk fall out into the driveway it was stacked so high. Looked like an episode of hoarders

Imagine having to live in a third floor apartment and the parking lot at complex is full except for a spot 200 yards away. And you just loaded up on 6 cases of water.
That was me before getting a house. I don't miss it.

I can’t think of anything worse than working out in my garage

You southerners and parking your cars in the driveway. I don't get it. Is it because you don't have basements and therefore need to pile your shite in the garage?
My Garage motors are broken and I’ve been too cheap to fix them. The garage is slowly becoming my gym/storage

We have a 2 car garage but I park in the driveway. My truck barely fits in it.

The one thing that really sucks so far about urban apartment living is trying to unload a ton of crap from my car. There’s only a couple loading zone spots bear my building, and my permanent spot is in a garage 2 blocks away. So, I often have to park illegally across the street for 10 minutes or so to unload into the building’s lobby, then go park in my garage, walk back, and then make trips up to my apartment from the lobby.
It’s a big pain in the arse compared to pulling up under my carport and unloading directly into the kitchen.
On the flip side, when my espn app is on the fritz, I can walk a block or two and find a nice neighborhood bar or tourist trap to watch the game and grab some food and booze, so it all evens out

if you actually lift, man nothing better than a well stocked garage gym. I love places like Reds, but its so nice lifting like you want with not wait and nobody around.

There’s people with condos in cities with bathrooms and closets bigger than your whole house. I’m sure they’re doing just fine.

I have covered parking behind my house so I don't get rained on when unloading groceries, but it's a carport, not a garage. I do also have a gate on my driveway, so criminals would have to jump a 6ft fence to get to that section of my house anyway.

Of course, my janky arse has to park ON THE STREET when I get home.
The only reason I care about having a garage is re: work. I also park in a basement garage downtown, so I have garages at both end points. Starting my day by getting rained on in a suit is a really quick way to put me in a shite mood

I was like 99% sure someone who lived somewhere with a grocery store next to a parking garage was going to say some shite
