My dad has left the South every summer since he retired.

Yea I noticed that too. Woke up early on Thursday or Friday and it was 66. Long range shows we may see more of that next week but won’t get my hopes up.

Spend the 6 months between October and March forgetting about just how bad it is.

I remember getting played for like 2 months last year on the long term forecast through October.
“Cool snap expected next week!”
frick off accuweather

I think it’s because we never get acclimated to the heat because of widespread air conditioning.I grew up without ac,didn’t have it at home, car or school.I never realized how hot and miserable Louisiana is in the summer until I went in the Navy.I came home on leave in July from California and I was blindsided by the heat and humidity when I got off airplane. It’s the humidity more than the heat,California was hot but dry and when the sun went down it got cool.
I also think the older I get the less I can tolerate it,I know my wife can’t tolerate it at all,She’s not a fatty,5’2”” and 110 lbs( no pics). After 10 am,20 minutes outside and she’s wiped out.

That hurricane sucked all the humidity out of the South last week.

I haven't heard of another hurricane, but it is getting close to time for a late summer cold front we sometimes see. But not getting your hopes up is a good call.

I remember between 2012-14 we had 3 straight beautiful low humidity 4th of July holidays. September always seems to be the month where summer makes a last stand and fall seems like it’ll never arrive.

I was acclimated as a kid, and hated every second of it. Some things just suck no matter how much you’re used to them.

I've been working in the ac for over 20 years now and I think that has something to do with it.

My first year playing football I was 7. The peewee league I played in was 7-10. I was one of the youngest and smallest and they stuck me on the dline. When the ball snapped I prepared my scrawny arse as much as possible but the big ol baws trucked me. Same goes for our summers. I’m as prepared as possible but I still get steam rolled.

My time working in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia made me appreciate the Georgia summers I grew up in.
Difference being Jeddah is on the Red Sea coast AND has a mountain chain just inland which traps the Red Sea humidity unlike most of the rest of SA.
110-115 degrees with 60% humidity will change your life baw

Every year it gets a little warmer or I’m getting older who knows

I've never understood this misconception.
I built my new side by side in a 110 degree shop on Sunday. Felt fine

This summer has been particularly hot

One of the least educated states might have something to do with that

I remember in 2006 my wife and I bought our first house. It was a little cookie cutter with the bare minimum sized ac and no shade.
That summer we had something like two weeks straight over 100 degrees. It was 80+ degrees in the house everyday until the sun went down and my wife was pregnant.
Exact same thing happened to me! Except the house we bought was 40 years old and we bought it from the original owner. So I just assumed that must be how the house is, since why would anyone willingly live in a hot house for 40 yrs?
After a few weeks of 78 deg inside the house and my wife 6mos preg I called an AC guy and he cut out a new return air vent. The AC just couldn’t suck in enough air. All it had was one small return vent. And that solved the problem. I’m amazed that fairly easy fix hadn’t been done all that time.

People complain about the heat Bc they lack college degrees?
