Yes but I’ve accepted the reality of not being able to.

You can ask. I work for the state. I work in corrections

Damn. When I worked for the state I burned DVDs and downloaded illegal shite from news groups all day long. I'd say in a given day I did about an hour of actual work.

The pay was shite though so I only stayed for 18 months.

Are their private company options in your field?

No. My BS is in Criminal Justice so I’m pretty much limited to government oriented positions.

My job is easy, not demanding, and I'm way over paid. The president and VP keep making me mad with their stupid decisions but I'm trapped. I won't have it as good as I'd have it here anywhere else.

It was the easiest job I've ever had but boring after a while. I got a 100% raise when I left for a private company. I'm in IT, not corrections like OP so completely different animal.

I’m a generic sales rep. Work from home

Have to commit to 3 one hour calls per week. Other than that I can do whatever I want.

I mix it up between taking accounts to lunch and checking TD

The most demanding job in the world is being a windshield man

we can never get ahead where im at. high turnover in direct management makes it so that they dont recognize the burden and likely think we are the problem.

its definitely unrewarding in that sense but I know that they'd be in a world of hurt if the experienced employees left. so I guess thats a small consolation. pay is great though

Take everything you said about your job minus the great pay and that describes a good portion of my job.

My days fly by because of the pace and variety of the role. I definitely work longer hours than 90% of the employee population but that comes with the responsibilities.

Some days you’re the windshield, some days you’re the bug.

Mine is not demanding but only because I’ve taken many years of demanding work to build it that way.

I’m not in consulting, but the m still a lot of different things to several separate companies/entities so it keeps the pace exciting. I get bored and lose motivation with the mundane stuff at times.

I’m a full believe most organizations could solve their headaches by investing in better tech solutions.

I make more than the average household in America. Very little stress. I have to work some weekends. I usually just watch football. I surf the web and plan vacations a lot during the week. I'm very bored and want more money, but I'm scared the grass isn't greener if i leave.

Just changed jobs, this one is far more demanding than the other. But the old one was pretty boring 2/3rds of the time.

I work systems issues on SAP. Fix IDOCS between two systems. Some days are busier than other. But most days I have everything done by 11:00 AM. Then I just troubleshoot as needed for the rest of the day. My only super busy days are running a bunch of period end reports on the first couple days of a new period.

It’s a little mind numbing at the moment. But I work for a good family owned business that only hires from within. So I’m in a good spot for future as well. Just gotta hang in there.

Depends on the time of year for me. Mid-late January thru September its every day nearly the whole way thru. September-mid November is normally at a decent pace where I can have a day or two off. Mid November-mid January I'm considering myself lucky to be charging 40hrs/week with some OT maybe every other week in a good year.

Pipeline work is either all or nothing, completely understand why a lot of my work colleagues end up leaving the industry for more stability
