I quit when they were like $3 a pack for name brands... seeing $7 a pack would help me quit real quick.
Honestly you will feel better if you quit, even smoking one or two can wreck your body for a couple of days.

It took a stroke to make me quit. I smoked 1-2 packs a day for close to 40 years but I haven't had one in almost 3 years now. I admit that if it weren't for the stroke I would probably still be puffing away, it's a hard habit to break, but if I want to live anywhere near a normal lifespan I need to leave them be

Yeah, Chantix is an incredible drug. Blocks the dopamine receptors in the brain that light up when you smoke (I’m pretty sure that’s how it works at least). So you keep smoking for a while but your body stops putting positive associations with smoking. Used it about ten years ago and haven’t smoked since.
Smoked a pack a day for about a decade and now have zero urge to smoke. I can go to the smokiest dive bar and won’t think about lighting up. Seriously, Chantix is a miracle drug.

I started dipping and I hated dipping, so I dipped less.

I stopped when the kids got old enough to ask me about it. I realized I didn't want them to learn that behavior from their dad.

My dad used to blow the biggest and thickest smoke rings at me across the table.

A quote from a pulmonologist I know “Nicotine is the ultimate drug. It brings you up when you are down. It brings you down when you are too up”.
Half life of nicotine in the body is extremely short. I forgot the exact time.

Dipped for about 12 years, about a can per day. Used the cold turkey method.
It was hell on earth for about a week… gets better after the 5th day. If you can make it till then you’re home free. Usually have a craving or two per day and would love to only “dip while drinking” but that is never going to be an option for me. Shitty addiction but you can overcome it.

My dad dipped Copenhagen and drank Jack Daniels and Old Milwaukee tallboys. He wasn't without his vices either

started at step 3. Dr recommend that. Lowest nicotine dose.
You didn't smoke much anyway, so you'll be fine. Just go with it until you forget about it. After reading this thread, I went and picked up some patches myself.

I quit smoking in my car first. Then quit smoking at work. Then used chantix to stop at home and while out and about. Smoked for about 10 years and it’s been about 10 since I quit.

I quit 20 years ago and I still catch myself patting a shirt pocket every once in a while wanting one.

VUSE vapes. Smoked for 20 yrs and haven’t smoked since Oct 2018. Now I can’t stand the smell or taste of a cig. Never thought it was possible but never really tried to quit before bc I liked it.

I quit the moment I tried. Tasted nasty. Even second hand smoke smells nasty. I tried to see if it tastes different than it smells. The temporary benefit was not worth the cost.
It made me realize how many insecure and stupid people there are in the world who need to suck on cancer sticks to appease their anxiety or for the showmanship of thinking they look cool.
How anyone sucks on one and decides to repeat is beyond my comprehension.
How anyone sees the pathetic look of those sad, weak addicts appeasing their own dependency while leaning on walls outside their workplace and thinks they want to go down that same path blows my mind.
I’m a quitter. Come at me.

By never starting. My entire family smoked, grandparents didn't make it past 68. People I went to school with who smoked look 10-15 years older than I do.
