I picked up this story late. If the rescue was so dangerous, how did they get to that spot in the first place?

Wasn't the coach in his 20's? Guy spending his weekend trying to be a good role model for some children and he makes an honest mistake. Then he's in a situation where he has to keep them all calm while they wait for rescue and he doesn't have another adult to talk to? That's a big weight on your shoulders particularly at that age. Unless I'm missing something he should get a medal.

If this happened in the US, he’d have been arrested immediately and sued by every parent for endangerment and negligence.
