I think its bc of the population, vast resources, and less baggage. No wars in the country, no kings, queens or serfdom. Im just curious how 13 colonies managed to become the most powerful, when England, france, and ottoman empire fell. Also, why happened to China or india? They had biggest GDPs in ancient /medieval times. m

a super simple version of the answer

ww2 happened. its major combatants were america, england, germany, the soviets, and japan

the germans and japanese were defeated, the soviets became a superpower in their own right, the british were completely bankrupt

We financed WWI and WWII. That’s when all the banks and all the money came here. We had the gold, we made the rules.

Treaty of Paris in 1898 then no wars to physically destroy the infrastructure while building a huge military that was instrumental in winning offshore wars. Then the atomic bomb.

1812 would like a word. 1861 to 1865 would like a word with you in a dark alley. All the others will grind down whatever is left.

Wars involving the United States of America

1. No wars in country? LOL...ok
2. You mention the fall of several empires...go look up how long they were in power, or considered "empires", then look and see how long we've been considered a superpower.

Like others have mentioned, it's all cyclical, and we are still in our early stages, at best. We haven't come close to the amount of times those "empires" were at the top of their game before their collapse.
