I feel like 1100-1400 was worse. When cities were really getting crowded, there was no sanitation, and millions were getting wiped out by plague.

In the human experience, people have never known what the future would hold. Their only reference was historical and that was usually on a par or worse than their present-day condition.

It was widely held for years that once some human folks got north of the Sahara that inventions and civilization took off in those sub-groups. But to postulate this narrative in 2018 is not PC so I’ll leave it to the reader to formulate his/her own opinion.

It wouldn’t have been that bad as it would have been your norm.

A thousand years from now, people will wonder how we survived without transportation, gene manipulation, time travel, telepathy, etc.

Travelling while jammed into metal tubes that only went 500 mph, having to write things down with a keyboard and then sending out over wires, using barbaric methods like Cat Scan, MRI to diagnosis diseases that couldn't be cured.

At least they didn’t know anything else going back 200 years would suck from a hygiene thing, even 100 years. Last 50 years not so bad but think what people in 500 years will say about today assuming things advance. Actually, don’t know what they will say
