How are your company’s Glassdoor reviews?

I’ve been working for them a year, just got promoted, and am generally pretty happy with my job. It’s a global corporation and I checked out Glassdoor.
From the reviews you would think people working at the company were prisoners of war in North Korea. Is everybody who writes Glassdoor reviews for a company a miserable complainer or should I expect mandatory castration from my employer soon?

Nobody usually takes time to write about how wonderful their job is but people with an axe to grind always seem to have plenty

Think about it... unless you're in the range of extremes, you aren't going to think about going on Glassdoor.

This goes for almost all online reviews. Very few people take time to write about how much they love something. Every idiot with internet access with go online to bash someone or something that they do not like.

4.7 average. 94% recommend to friends. 100% recommend CEO, whatever that means.

It's also a bad sign if you get on there and a ton of great reviews were posted in a short period of time. That tells you the company sent an email out to everyone asking them to post a positive review, usually to enter a giveaway or for some other incentive.

Most people who are happy about something don't bother to write a review. Those who are unhappy will shout it to the skies.

Yeah, same with where I work. Big company with tens of thousands of people, a huge chunk of them being call center/tech support workers across the world... no use in reading glassdoor reviews. It's all about the department/division -- your immediate supervisor, the culture of that particular office, where you are on the corporate ladder.

This is true, but there are still enough people who review objectively to where ratings actually do matter. I would never choose to eat at a restaurant that has 2 out of 5 stars on yelp.

I worked for a company that had terrible reviews on Glassdoor. While there wasn't an email ever sent out to post positive reviews, a few folks in senior management did post positive reviews. Funny thing is that some actually filled in what their position was.

I work in oil and gas as a upstream servicing company (red stealth). We have just finished laying off 30k+ people worldwide and most of our competitors are exemployees who want to see the company burn to the ground. So... not good.

I just checked mine. Two are straight up lies by what I assume are employees pissed that they got fired. Three are positive. And one is neutral, but is full of shite grammar and misspellings. Overall, not bad.

Former company had lower than a 2 star rating. They deserved it. Highest turnover I’ve ever seen. Part of an acquisition by a VC that they were going to flip. Any positive reviews were short with hardly any details and everyone suspected it was HR that wrote them.

I worked at XXX full-time (More than a year)
Pros
Cannot think of anything. Other than pay check, it’s just a job not a career. HRIS/PR personnel have no technical qualifications whatsoever and on top of that they are not a team player.
Cons
HRIS/PR/HR is a disaster and completely dysfunctional. Expect very little support, will be working crazy hours and will burn out very fast.
Advice to Management
Get rid of HRIS/HR/Payroll personnel, they are absolutely incompetent, viscous and spiteful.

I've never even looked at mine. I work for one of the largest companies in the world, so I'm sure there is some fcked up reviews posted.
People that love complaining seem like the people who post on those sites most often.

My company was sub 3 but keeping begging for good reviews so 3.4
