I have faith that EBRSO and the LSP will be able to handle things. I'm curious as to how Broome responds if things get heated. If she tells BRPD to stand down while protesters riot and destroy property, her arse needs to be recalled ASAP. I'm sure BR's resident racists Marcelle, Chauna, and Gravy will be leading the protests with their blood-spattered "justice for Alton" shirts on. If Broome has even half a brain, she'd tell the police to stand firm if things get bad.

Dabadie should ignore all "stand down" orders from the mayor's office

That would certainly be a perfect excuse for Broome to fire him. Oooh, the plot thickens.

That's just silly.

I'm watching the draft, eating Lebanese , getting a couple of hours of exercise and going to the Buddhist temple with the fam to celebrate " pray for Vietnam " fundraiser day. Gotta buy that rice for Mrs Pimp's old village. I'll roll out the concertina wire tommorow but I need to fortify by helping my fellow man first. And then I'll be mentally prepared to have the worst people in our country tell me how much I suck and why I deserve to have bad things happen to me.

They'll riot as long as there are no consequences. Just an excuse to tear shite up and steal. The majority of them would shoot Sterling themselves if he was carrying a thousand bucks and they thought they could get away with it.

She was on WBRZ yesterday, and had every opportunity to tell potential protestors to comply with police orders (as Kip did when this occurred last summer). Every opportunity to speak to out of town protestors and say their unlawful actions won't be tolerated in our city. She didn't, probably because she doesn't want to alienate her constituent base.
If the previous mismanagement her admin has made the past few months are any sign, I'd imagine a botched response will occur. Dabadie may just step back and let her burn.
The next few days should be interesting to say the least. May just leave straight from JF and head to Florida.

Why wait until Monday? Gotta get some range time in before then.

Is that the consensus? Anyone really think the chaos comes farther south than Airline/Goodwood?

I don't live in BR,so carry on with the petty shite.

If, by standing down, the lives of innocent citizens are put in danger, as well as the destruction of private property, how can Broome fire him for insubordination? He is sworn to protect the lives and property of the residents of Baton Rouge. If he ignores that duty on Broome's orders, isn't she then liable if somebody gets hurt?

I know a few downtown businesses are preparing for possible protest sites around the courthouses downtown. Who knows where people will organize.
Should be interesting with legislators in town for session, maybe they show up at the capitol.

I don't think anything will really happen anyway. All the BS that happened a couple months ago was from people that bussed in from out of state. don't know if they have enough time to mobilize this time

She's currently looking for every excuse possible to fire him. I guarantee you that there is no way Dabadie survives this ordeal as police chief.

He's walking on eggshells. I bet SWB is hoping he takes one wrong move during this ordeal to give her justification.
I almost feel like she might tell him (BRPD) to stand down to let the "people get their frustrations out" and if he disobeys that order, be it as trying to do his job as well as he can, she will can him.

carrying a gun would've probably sent him to the pen.
It's automatic 10 years I believe. His "rights" weren't violated since he had no right to carry in the first place. In fact it was illegal for him to be there carrying in the first place.

Representative C. Denise Marcelle also released a statement Friday evening, saying she will be holding a community meeting to address the upcoming decision. She will be joined by local pastors, Errol K. Domingue, Chris Huddleston, Gregory Cooper, Gus Spurlock, and Reginald Pitcher. Other community leaders and activists will also be at the meeting, including Councilman LaMont Cole, A.V. Mitchell, Keon Preston, The Nation of Islam, Arthur "Silky Slim" Reed, and Jasiri Basil. Sandra Sterling is also expected to be in attendance.

"Due to the recent rumors of a decision forthcoming by the DOJ, we decided to get out in front of this decision. It's always better to lead the people before potential problems occur and not allow the citizens to be caught off guard. We want the people of Baton Rouge to be mentally and emotionally prepared for any decision the United States Department of Justice renders. We intend to give instructions and directions with hopes of a peaceful outcome," said Marcelle.
quote:
"The citizens of Baton Rouge held this city together last summer despite the adversity and I'm prayerful that if needed, we can do so again. At a time like this, it is important for community leaders to handle their influence responsibly and for community members to know their power and use it wisely. We have the power to build or destroy, survive or thrive, as well as seek justice or make matters worse. #useyourpower," said Mitchell.
