This is why I don't go to churches. I can't sit there and watch some old lady give her money away to a con man. It amazes me how many ignorant Christians there are because I do believe a lot of people in churches have their heart in the right place but I can only assume they don't read their Bible or they just turn a blind eye so that they don't get excommunicated from their church.
I will ask again, show me the verse in the New Testament that specifies what percentage of your income should be tithed. Once you get tired of looking for something that doesn't exist go look in the Old Testament and tell me? You might be surprised. If people actually read the Bible I think they would be surprised by a great many things that go on in the church they attend.

Is this place really a prosperity gospel church?
I've been to their Sunday services a handful of times. Their messages are never hard hitting, and mostly "uplifting/what can God do for you" sermons. Every time I have been I feel as if they are a prosperity gospel based church. They aren't quite the Joel Osteen level though.
They have the nice big building and put on a great gospel-rock concert each morning. (Not that there is anything wrong with talented people playing music in church), but it just feeds into their image and how they attract people.

How many does the Dino "The Rizz" Rizzo Memorial Arena seat?
Can LSU play there when they build a new basketball arena on campus?

I hear their singles groups are legit though. Basically Cadillac Cafe without as much shitty band music or alcohol.

pisses me off to no end how any pastor /preacher could rise to enormous amounts of wealth riding off the backs of his congregation.
Swaggart, Hill, Etc. frick em all.
There are those around here who have argued that this perspective is just liberal, socialist whining about their success.

Matthew 19
Parable of the rich man. Jesus asked him to give up all his wealth and follow him.
quote:
23Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
Jesus didn't deal with percentages, but what's in your heart that mattered.

it's a "collection" machine for electronic offerings.
You fricking serious? Can't be serious. Like, swipe your card and enter an amount for a donation like you would at CVS? No fricking way.
Like, people are using their credit cards to give money to the church because the church tells them giving money makes God hear them better?? WTF?

Which is why 90 percent of organized religion is just fraud. Nothing less. ^^
These preacher men should have real jobs from 8-5 and then do the Jesus business after.

HPC is no worse than the Catholic Church which is the largest and most profitable church in the area, by far. Heck if you pay enough money or have the right genetics the Catholics may let you in St. Aloysius.
