This is the kind of work most good true meteorologists are doing. The guys doing that kind of work make good money and are good at what they do. The same is mostly true of Noah, NWS, etc.

Your average small town worryman doesnt know shite and is just doing a spin job on what NWS is putting out with a local accent.

NWS forecast for the big picture and radar for live updates. Form your own opinions. It isnt difficult to do.

One only needs to look at the insane accuracy of hurricane and even tornado forecasting to tell that the guys at the federal level are really good.

One of my former colleagues always used to say meteorology is the only job where you can be wrong 50% or more of the time and still keep your job.

I look at weather apps a bit and find they are very accurate most of the time 3-4 days out.

I always wonder why they miss badly every once in a while like this one in Laffy. Some variable that the model has never seen? Official end of crawfish season and accumulation of spice impacted atmosphere?

Saturday night into Sunday morning was not supposed to rain around Lafayette but instead we got flash flood alerts all night and around 6" of rain

I use "my radar" app and weather channel app and click on radar. Radar never lies. Just look on the radar, you'll know if your gonna have rain or not.

Be weary of any app that shows a long term “future radar” as those are just computer models based on things like the HRRR or NAM.

Also any app that says rain ending in X minutes, those can be a joke too, especially with our erratic summer storms.

Also, be weary of a national radar composite radar map as it will show less detail on storms and weather events than a single site radar.

I also wonder if Laffy falls in the detail gap between the Hammond and Lake Charles radar sites.

I also wonder if the move to Hammond improved the coverage in some areas especially over Houma where 4 radar indicated tornadoes were recorded last week.
