From friends

Heights-lost power this morning and never got it back

Museum District-Never lost it

Rosenberg-Never lost it but limited internet

Kingwood Area-briefly lost power this morning

Garden Oaks/Oak Forest-Never lost it

Washington Ave corridor-lost for about 7 hours

Galleria-Lost in the morning and never came back

It all seems very arbitrary.

Katy. We packed up and went to stay with a relative who had power.

Dropped out last bag in the hosts house and neighbors called that we got it back. Lol

I want to bitch but can’t. I have 2 options with power and many have zero.

Les Miles has lost control of the ERCOT grid.

But seriously (despite my handle I no longer live in H-town) how did this happen? If ERCOT can cut off supply with a switch, why can't they turn it back on with a switch?

I remember about a decade or so ago when I lived there, we had rolling blackouts one summer day, 15-20 min and it was back on, a few times that day.

Frozen pumps and valves on transmission lines slowed/stopped the flow of feed to power plants...no feedstock...no electricity.

Feedstock is provided by private companies...Kinder, DCP, Enbridge, Enterprise etc...

League City

Lost power about 2 am. It came back on for about 20 minutes around 10 this morning but nothing since.

Tnmp says if you lost power to expect to be without power until at least tomorrow. Then has another update specific to my address saying power will be back on Monday at 4 am. Looks like no power tonight.

Just glad I've got gas stove, fireplace and water heater.

So it's both a supply problem and a demand problem?

Still out since that same 2am shutdown. I'm freezing my bag off, but the kids are only in long pants and short sleeves and loving life. It's definitely chilly in the house but I'm also a bit of a cold weather bitch. Tonight is going to suck for at least one of us.

Last I heard we were about 30GW off demand. 26GW from NG units down due to supply and 4GW of wind. There’s also a shite load of coal, NG, and oil that are down for maintenance since this is traditionally a light load season here.

I plainly listed the neighborhood I’m in for this week while I’m in town to help my in laws through a difficult time. You want me to lie about it?

Thanks for all of the responses. I was hoping to see some pattern of outages and restorations around us since the Centerpoint website is useless.

I never lost it. Up in Kingwood. The plan was to do rolling blackouts but multiple generators went down across the state so they didn’t do it and basically said if you lost power you just have to wait until everything is back up and running.
