Houston water line break - 96" pipe. Where does all the water come from?

This was 96" water line underground. I thought water towers provided the majority of the water pressure. There aren't enough water towers in Houston to produce that amount of flooding.
Any of you guys with experience in water systems know what the pressure source is to get water from underground to push up to the surface and flood like that? Was this probably just the "low" spot in the water system and most of water lines in Houston are above street level at that location? Just trying to understand how that much water comes up from underground and causes flooding on this scale.

Houston gets its water from the east fork of the San Jacinta river. It has high levels of taco seasoning and a perfect amount of arrogance

Reservoirs are at a higher elevation than the areas they serve. NYC fills aqueducts that drawf 96 inches.
Not sure on Houston, but pretty positive it's reservoirs.

Do you know how much freaking water is traveling through a 96” pipe?
Each linear foot contains around 370 gallons of water and all that water is pressurized. The pressure probably doesn’t come from towers but most likely massive tanks that holds millions of gallons of water.

I don't know the whole dynamic of the Houston water system but I am pretty sure that the city gets it water from Lake Houston. I know there is a pretty elaborate pump station close to Sheldon.
There is a pretty big back story I am sure for this since Lake Houston is fed by 2 forks of the San Jac River that has a direct connection to Lake Conroe. Lake Conroe pretty much released an epic amount of water during Harvey that pretty well flooded Lake Houston and most of Kingwood and lots of areas downstream. Kingwood has been pushing hard for Conroe to reduce the lake levels to keep that kind of disaster from happening again. Not sure with this much water loss from Lake Houston how this might affect Conroe from actually dropping levels now.
