I almost edited in an inb4 something just like that because you're that predictable.

Anatomically, that's irrefutable.

I'm not a research neurologist. I don't know if there's any neurological/chemical distinction between trans people and your run-of-the-mill heterosexuals. I suppose it's a possibility. But if transitioning to another gender makes you happy, more power to you. I'm not talking about attention seeking behavior - I dislike that from people of all shapes, sizes, and sexual orientations - but if John wants to be Sally, and Sally works hard, treats people with kindness, and pays her taxes...well that's just about all I can ask of a stranger.

We're creatures of our upbringing. I'm not totally acclimated to all of the transgender rights issues yet, but I chalk it up to getting older. The world changes, and I try to keep that in mind.

Personally, I think all of the "xe" stuff is just absurd. We're human - if you look like a woman, I'm probably going to go out on a limb and say "thank you ma'am." If the response is "Actually, my preferred pronoun is 'Lecarpetron Dookmarriott,' then I'm going to respect your request and you probably won't be the first person I think to invite over to watch a ballgame.

Just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to theirs. Beautiful thing about our country.

I generally agree with this.

so this is where you admit that you don't actually believe trans people having a mental disorder? but they are actively choosing this?

Mental illness is a genetic disorder, silly.

What you just said makes a lot of sense.

Well, you pretty much denied that transsexuality has a genetic component. Yet, there is research out there that it does.

And it makes sense. Men and women think differently and even have different brain development that is very incompletely understood. It stands to reason that there could be people out there whose testosterone incompletely "masculinized" their brains, and they tend to identify as female. Of course, it could be and probably is far more complicated than that.

Fascinating really. Beyond that, who gives a frick anyway? If they are nice, upstanding, modest, self-sufficient citizens, let them transition. Just make them wait until well into adulthood because there is also research that kids can undergo "desistance".

This.

I don't understand why people choose to let issues like this bother them so much.

Houma also isn't Chechnya, so I doubt it.

You sure? Had anyone confirmed that the oil rig has been taken down and that you won't have to drill a new well?
