I guess a trans person would always be "biologically" a man or woman. Just a part of their background that can't be changed. But I don't think it's unreasonable to ask people to recognize their preference going forward.

Do you think I would receive any vitriol if I put down on all of my applications that I identify as black when I am white?

Do you walk up to kids with Down Syndrome and ask their parents how their mongoloid, retarded son is doing? It's just a fact. It's not condescending. He's mentally retarded and looks "Mongoloid".

GTFO with this weak arse comparison. The day someone can "choose" to have down syndrome is the day it holds any relevance.

I'm sure you would

And if you truly believed such, I'd ask those people the exact same question

so this is where you admit that you don't actually believe trans people having a mental disorder?

but they are actively choosing this?

Your great plan of ignoring it will only further the push to accept it as normal, at which point it most certainly can affect my life and my child's life.

What's normal? Is your "normal" the "right" interpretation? If so, why? People can choose their social circles how they see fit - but ostracizing someone for a personal choice seems reactionary.

Salmon doing Salmon things.

You're mincing word to ignore the point. "Trans" people are whatever sex they were born as. Down people don't have a mental illness, they have a genetic disorder.

If you have a penis, you're a guy. If you have a vagina, you're a girl.

This is not a political stance. These are facts.

Exactly. People are free to live however they like as long as they don't force me to talk to my kids.

But did either choose their disorder?

You are the one that made this distinction.

This is just the first one reported on. There have been several. I've got a few employees that went to school with one that is passable

I don't care what my child does after they turn 18, but this sure as hell isn't happening before then. Also I am not paying for it, so good luck with that.

Public disclaimer I have no kids...

It's not.

Here is your statement.

quote:

The day someone can "choose" to have down syndrome is the day it holds any relevance.

You took his comparison as irrelevant because people with DS cannot choose to have DS.

One can only take that as meaning that you believe that a trans person is choosing to be trans.

That isn't word mincing.

Did you see choose in quotes? Do you not think that maybe I'm using a modified definition of the word?

You're picking an argument out of minutia.

We're creatures of our upbringing. I'm not totally acclimated to all of the transgender rights issues yet, but I chalk it up to getting older. The world changes, and I try to keep that in mind.

Personally, I think all of the "xe" stuff is just absurd. We're human - if you look like a woman, I'm probably going to go out on a limb and say "thank you ma'am." If the response is "Actually, my preferred pronoun is 'Lecarpetron Dookmarriott,' then I'm going to respect your request and you probably won't be the first person I think to invite over to watch a ballgame.

Just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to theirs. Beautiful thing about our country.

Can you explain your point further then? because I don't see how one is supposed to interpret that statement other than I've stated.

No, because you're being a douche about it. You're trying to get me in a gotcha and I'm not having it.

ok

I can only take that as meaning that I'm right and you just don't want to admit it
