Hooper and comite are shite in comparison to real trails, but for Baton Rouge I’ll take em.
Upgrade the bike and come hit the real shite with us in Mississippi/arkansas

The other side further down hooper (“comite side”) used to be much better maintained, and not quite as technical. I haven’t ridden out there in probably ten or more years though

Don’t ride muddy trails. It negates the work that volunteers do out there. It’s just kind of a douche thing to do and the mud will absolutely ruin a bottom bracket.
And there have been fairly serious injuries out there and at the other trail to experienced riders.

Got me arse kicked trying to bike . Fell down so manual times. Hills, ponds , can be dangerous
For the most part it's easy, but it has some nasty areas where the dirt has just given way. I used to hike it all the time, and after the floods a couple of years ago it was crazy as hell looking. So bleached out, it looked like Fallout the video game.

Is the dust bowl still back there?
Rode it years ago and remember it being pretty narley but fun. One visit, I threw my back out though.

The difference between the two is night and day. OP was catching shite from everyone on the first page who probably only ever tried the comite side, which is much easier and more fun.
Anyone looking for a challenge should try out "The Beast" in St Francisville. Not ashamed to admit that trail kicked my arse my first time out.

If you are looking for a nice middle ground, we used to go up to Land Between the Lakes at least once a year to run the trails there. It’s where Kentucky meets Tennessee. You can camp and bike all day. Pretty place, totally worth the trip.
Just got home to Dallas from LBL. A lot of great trails though Friday we did 20 miles which is pushing hard for my old arse. Was riding with my son stationed at Ft. Campbell he and his buddies ride LBL a lot being about an hour away. Decent camping too, though the “organized” sites were closed so we were at a Basic campground (outhouse only no shower). We rigged up a shower system to clean up.

SELA MTBers talking about technical singletrack is laughable. Western NC & VA trails would chew you up and spit you out like shitty bubble gum, North Shore BC trails would literally kill you.
In the biking world that just gives you the dubious distinction of being a Clydesdale.
Try some trails where 10' dops are gnar but not even most gnar.

The fricken atv tracks make it harder to ride. I kept on slipping in the mud.
I seriously wanted to cry walking up with a bike and down .
Man those trails in Colorado or misssispi are no joke .

Bravo to people who can really do it- it’s tough and takes balls.
To the people calling you a pussy- they are probably eating a stack of Chips Ahoy and think they are exercise badasses because they can do 30 minutes on the elliptical at the gym.
I've been on those trails since before they were brec property. bmx bikes, MTb's with no suspension.
wtf kinda sissies...

Bro, we know. They are technical compared to the sidewalk but it the best we have, and some areas can be somewhat technical.
Same with the Acadiana Park trails here in Lafayette. In the grand scheme of MTB the place sucks. The fact that it is the only trail within 45 minutes makes it great.
I'm going to ride Bentonville for the first time next month. After watching some videos, I can't wait.

I was excited for Bentonville and a brewery , but no more.
Think I might have twisted ankle and testicular damage .
I didn't have right bike , it was hybrid from dicks
Idk bout dust bowl , seemed like a mud hole from Africa
