So I’m in town for the holidays and did some driving around yesterday. Ended up driving down Hoo Shoo Too. Had my google earth app up so I could see stuff off the road. Came across an interesting gate and looked at the aerial view. After researching it , the web said it was called Capozzoli Landing Strip. Anyone know the story on this place ? I immediately thought Barry Seal but who knows. Address is below.

The better question is, how high was the water during the 2016 flood?

Yes that was one of the many runways that Berry Seal used.

I looked at that place a few years ago before I built my house down Hoo Shoo Too.

Neat property with a pool right by the bayou.

He was an architect/civil in BR. Everyone assumes Barry flew out of there; but according to the neighbors Barry never owned the property.

Off the plane and into waiting jonboats, then off down the bayou to another nondescript location to be offloaded into a garage and then into the trunks of cars to be dispatched to parts unknown.

Didn't there used to be a restaurant/bar way down hoo shoo too before the meth heads took over the area?

Who is “he” ? And I never claimed Berry owned it, but he did fly in/out of it. He flew in/out of just about every strip in south LA.

And he spelled his name Berry with an E, not an A since it’s derived from his middle name “Berriman”.

Crazy how silted in the launch and everything is.

According to folklore. No one knew about Barry until he was busted, but everyone knew every airstrip he used.

Probably shouldn’t say this but it’s still used today

Louis Capozzoli owned that airstrip. He owned a civil engineering firm in Baton Rouge.

Their offices were in that white, cinder block building on the Airline Hwy. service road just south of Cedarcrest.

Never understood why the property at the end of hoo shoo too got so gross.

You pass mallard lakes and some of the nice properties just past the tree line, and then it’s crack head city.

Why some big BTR money never swooped in and took the place for hunting or weekend property never made sense to me.

I know it floods but you could build up.

If you were in the Greater Baton Rouge bar scene from 1975-1985, you or one of your friends knew him and knew what he was about. My Dad was in it, and knew him. My step dad was in it and knew Seal very well, and had him over to the house when I was a kid. He knew him too well actually.

One of the reasons was BR was more like a large town back then. Another was, without the internet and everyone taking a hundred cell phone pics every time they went out for drinks with friends, the drug scene and drug running was more mainstream and easier to get away with.

I'm just here to break the cycle and say that I knew nothing about Barry Seal until the OT. I don't know where all he landed and we're not related.
