Some companies don't write in certain areas, what's the issue? It's called adverse selection.
I'd venture to guess it's not even Allstate, probably a clearinghouse company they write through.
Again, cite the crying ya dumb frick. Billions in claims get paid out annually.

I'm with Sagesure - renewal came a couple months ago. $3 increase. I consider that a win

Got it last week and it was up 25%. Had enough with the increases over the past six years.
Switched home and auto to Allstate that day and saved over 50% on my premiums for the same or better coverage for the next terms (1y/6mo).

Montgomery County, TX just north of Houston. Allstate policy for homeowners will go up $165.00, very happy.

Ouch. I’m in Lamar County, too. I have State Farm and mine has been pretty much the same for three straight years. Maybe a small increase this year of $100. I’m bundled with them which helps.
Actually looking to move to the coast next year. Insurance is a big concern.

My sage sure is jumping 21%. Surprised my dwelling limits only went up 5%.

Mine in Florida continues to go up. It’s on a predetermined upward scale to being unaffordable. It’s the one place I’d like to pay off and self insure. In Colorado it’s gone up slightly but not that much, it’s cheap compared other places. In Maryland it went up slightly, and it’s because we are too close to the water. Boise never seems to move much.
The driving force behind climate migration IMO will be insurance rates.

In those places the government seems to have a publicly subsidized company that operates as an insurance of last resort. I believe in Florida and and in Louisiana that company coincidentally is called Citizens Insurance. What’s wild to me that this government subsidized company is also a for profit company.
IMO property and health insurance should not be for profit. The govt steps in either way and takes the brunt of the expenses. Why we let private companies take from both the people and the government?

Yes, I'm the dumb one when you're continuing to reference flooding in regards to home owners insurance.
What exactly is dumb about giving you an explanation of why some companies won't write in certain areas?
Wind risk and adverse selection is the reason, including maximum sustained loss caps. Insurers have to purchase reinsurance, and they have caps on the max risk they can take in a particular state.
