Where do you want them to go? Prison for being homeless? Mental problems, health problems, drug problem, run a ways with sexual abuse, etc. life is rough out here. Not everyone can deal. Really a bad situation. No real answers. Some people come from really shitty homes with no help. One misstep and you are on street.

Where I live there's none

I think there's a city ordinance against it or some such.

Dallas has them but our suburb doesn't

Today, most are just addicts. Start from there.

You'll always have the mentally ill, but they're not the biggest issue among homelessness today.

Get them in a place where they can get help and the hell off the streets.

You are assuming they want help and to get off the street.

Feel like jail isn’t the right word for it. But damn there has to be some kind of involuntary rehab or shelter. Just camping out in downtown area sidewalks shouldn’t be allowed.

So you only have to drive past them to get home.

I don't disagree that homelessness has become a problem, especially in major cities. But what part of bell county are you having these issues?

Good, they can donate to the homeless.

They don’t tip well. So you’re barking up the wrong tree bud.

I may have a small mind. But that wasn’t a denial.

Nobody has to own a home. Rent an apartment. Stay with friends/family. Go to a shelter.

We have laws against public drunkenness, but apparently it's a-okay to shoot up drugs on our sidewalks. It's absolutely insane.

Our local cleanup group, Keep Tiger Town Beautiful, is always finding tons of used syringes (and some full) under the Siegen/I-10 overpass. This is right next to St. George Church and School.

So I'm looking at giant hole near downtown Beirut Rouge trying to route the huge arse fiber optic cables so folks won't lose their internet and eating a cold arse ham and cheese sandwich. Then from behind a bush pops out a middle aged woman with 4 teeth that ask me for cash so that she can go get her a cheeseburger at the Sonic on Government St.
Wth ?
I told her no.
The crew in hole ignored her, they didn't even break for lunch.
She walked away.

Thank Regan for getting rid of long term locked care mental facilities. That is the bulk of the homeless today

As for the rest, bring back the WPA. Most of the most prominent structures and most of the infrastructure in your town was done in the WPA era. Taught the ones who could learn a trade and kept those unable to do skilled things with jobs cleaning the street an beeping things clean.

I'm a conservative Republican but you can thank the Reagan Administration for starting the process of shutting down many of the federally funded mental institutions. W finished it off.
