If we have any journalists left at The Advocate, they’d be covering this and demanding answers from BREC.
If they aren’t going to maintain their property in an area with an obvious homeless and drug problem, they should sell the land to someone who will.

Just make it an obstacle course. Show kids what happens when you don't brush your teeth twice a day and make poor grades in school.

When I looked at a car at that CarMax the salesman told me that they had to keep all of the cars locked now because the homeless were using the bathroom in the cars.
They also figured out that for $10 a month they could have unlimited access to toilets and showers at planet fitness. PF may have finally put a stop to it, but it was an issue for a while.

There is another that is as bad or worse. Prob worse. Behind Harvey’s building which is near the Best Buy off of bluebonnet. Close to mall of LA. It’s really bad there. Not sure if that’s public land like this is though. But it’s a village of homeless people. And they have waterfront accommodations too. Huge pond back there.

partial blame the people who enable this culture by donating cash money to them. I realize that they mean well, but they are only facilitating their drug addiction.
How do we know what the money will be used for? The way I see it, they’re a human being that has emotions (like we all do), is hot/cold, hungry, thirsty, dirty, sweaty, tired…
I’ve been told, while walking to a group happy hour, that you shouldn’t give money to the poor because all they’ll do is spend it on booze. So we can spend money on drinks, but they can’t?
I don’t know … I guess at the end of the day, they’re human. Someone … a parent, sibling, relative, friend cares for the human … maybe I’m too compassionate.

Can you pay bills to support yourself? Then, yes you can buy a drink while they cannot.

Not sure they have any “bills,” per se.

What kind of fancy-arse car has a bathroom in it?

Angers me to no end. And it’s a BREC property. $300mil budget and that’s what we get.
I believe BREC’s budget is $115 million, but point taken. They sent almost $60 million to the Greenwood park/zoo in Baker while other, existing parks get little to no ongoing maintenance.
Plenty of money for pretty way finding signage and new, pointless buildings, but little to nothing for more hiking/walking trails.
Cameras have been installed, but security at most parks is sorely lacking as well

You are part of the problem. If you give them money then you better get your arse out there and help clean up.

Not compassionate enough to let one live in your home though.

They shooting up cottonmouth venom out there? That’s not an area I’d take a nap on an old pallet but then again I’m not a druggie
Same thing ran through my mind: when I was in high school I was roaming through those woods at a good clip and ALMOST stepped right on one of THE fattest Cottonmouths I’ve seen to date, and I’ve seen a lot. That snakes white mouth and fangs made one hell of a flashbulb memory.

Knowing we fund BREC to keep it like this is an absolute tragedy.
Exhibit A why I’ll never vote for another tax.

They sound like they have an alcohol bill that they can't pay. How would you like it if they came and parked in your backyard without permission dropping needles everywhere.

They didn't keep the cars locked before that?
Pretty stupid if so.

If BR was a serious place,
That’s just funny to even think about. The only way this sort of thing would be taken serious would be if it were near Tiger Stadium and impacting game day.

I’ve pulled some nice bass out of that pond.

Did you pay all your bills and provide for your family’s safety before you spent your money on booze?
Do you think they did?
