So... wife and I are in the process of purchasing our first home...
Got some documents to review today and there's a 10K debt showing up below my auto loans.
This chick has a credit card with 10K on it that she had kept hidden from me from several years back.
We have 2 boys and have a shite ton of money in escrow for this house, no clue what the frick to do
If she hid that much money from you, some baws have probably been pounding that secretly as well
Honestly though, that's a pretty hefty amount of debt to accrue and not tell you about. I would pause the home buying process and re-evaluate your financial portfolio because a surprise 10K debt is a huge burden

I disagree. Some women are afraid their debt will make the man they love see her as "not marriage material".
Some are simply embarrassed that their debt is out of control whereas the rest of their lives are balanced and normal. Once you commit to a lie, it gets more difficult to get out from under it.
One GF revealed she had 40K in CC debt after we dated for a year. I wasn't mad at her because it wasn't really my business at the time. her debt wasn't the main reason I didn't marry her but I will admit the thought did weigh on my mind.

Divorce attorney.... STAT

Bottom line it's $10,000 and it won't hurt you to pay it off, then pay it off. $10,000 is a lot cheaper than a divorce.

Its a little weird that you constantly refer to your retard wife as "this chick"

I dated a girl once who was in the banking industry. On the first date she asked me about my credit. I thought it was an odd question, but now it makes sense.
If the 10,000 wasn't for hotel rooms or other fishy stuff that made me think she was cheating, I'd deal with it and move on.

You are either going to pay it or not get your house.
Five years after I married mine the IRS kept my tax return to cover debt she had (I had no clue).
When I asked what the frick it was she said she took $15,000 out of her 40k1 to buy her X boyfriend a car 3 years before I even met her.
Bitches are stupid

I've only read pages one, two, and eight so this may have been mentioned...
What kind of adult doesn't check their family's credit scores/reports at least once a year?
You should have caught this a long time ago. It's okay though. Most American adults are naive when it comes to money. I consider myself pretty educated about it compared to most and still learn obvious things along the way.

Our financing hasn't fallen through

We've never had problems with money, it's never been a concern
She is a working adult, with a finance background
With our situation of always having more than we ever needed I never considered this to even be a possibility
Additionally it's not in collections so would it even show on her credit report?

It will show up as an open line of credit but as long as she's been paying it on time then it shouldn't be too bad.
It sounds like you're doing alright so I doubt it will hurt you much on the home financing.

shes defaulted on it for awhile right? its going to be on her credit report. funny she has a finance background but allows some shite like this to happen.
If yall have been so comfortable then why didnt she try and pay it off with all the extra cash yall have?

Any credit accounts reported to experian Transunion or equifax will show on a credit report
% of available credit used has high impact.
If she has a 100k combined LOC then 10k is nothing. If she has 12k LOC then that 10k is hurting

Million dollar question
She was always big about putting money into savings, which we have dick no return on, even if the credit card didn't get paid off.
We have had over 40k sitting in our savings for the past 4 years, that she could have utilized at any time for that
She has been making minimum payments the whole time, son not sure it would default
Posted on 1/26/17 at 11:09 am to TennesseeFan25
ah ok so she didnt let it default shes just let it grow and grow bc of just paying the min....very weird. especially bc yall had the money to pay it off for awhile.

i mean could be? OP could have anger issues. she just rather just keep the CC a secret rather than bring it up and possibly have the OP fly off the handle

Have you seen the way he acted in this thread and others and the way he referred to his wife and mother of his child?
And this is after he had a chance to cool down and hopefully act rationally like a normal man.
O/U on the minutes of screaming, door slamming, possibly throwing things that went on in the house when he found out?
