I don't think he sees himself as a problem, this should be worrisome to him. Most in this thread are unbiased opinions and are strongly against him. That should open his eyes a little, but he seems to be a hard shell to crack. All of this leads to why there's a 10k debt he knew nothing about.

If you can't figure out that the op is an out of control hothead that probably has his wife terrified to buy anything without a huge argument then I can't help you.

I never understand the logic of lying to a SO to not piss them off over being upfront.

As we've seen, getting caught lying about performing action A is worse than being upfront about it.

Please explain where I said this, i have stated multiple times we both make money.

I knew about the card, I was lied to about the balance. For the last time she hadn't been limited she hasn't been scolded.

Her choice was to put thousands away in savings rather than pay her balance on this, or be forthright about it

So, you knew about the card, but just didn't know the balance on it, right? How did she lie about the balance? I must have missed that somehow. I thought you didn't know about the card at all, initially.

Perhaps, but I specifically chose the person I wanted to be with for a similar reason.

We both have professional jobs, we both make reasonably similar incomes, and we both share all of our financial dealings with each other with verification (credit checks, mint.com, etc).

I would never be with a person whom I felt like was there just to be supported by me, only to go behind my back and run up credit card bills. Marriage is supposed to be a partnership, not a charity, and definitely not a giveaway.

Holy shite no wonder she was afraid to bring it up. You are being an emotional frick.

If you love her you will work with her to fix it.

If you now hate the bitch hen dump her and pay the $10k+ to get divorced.

Welcome to marriage

Haha wtf? Why would someone ruin credit and get charged interest just to stick it in a zero growth account?

You state you both make good money. I doubt it if this is the way she thinks and doesn't consult somebody who understands finances when she knows she is clueless.

What's the age gap? Are you late 40s and married your friends daughter? Makes sense that you "scold" and admonish her like a child.

Your a piece of shite and couldn't find anyone until you became much older and found a clueless ditz

I'm sure she was just embarrassed/afraid to tell you. I wouldn't kick her to the curb or anything. Atleast she was saving some and not out blowing every dime.

If she's hiding this from you, what else is she hiding ?
This is a serious thing and you guys need to get it dealt with. I feel sorry for your kids having to be caught up in all of this.
