So, this is an example of a "mail order home" from a century ago.
Honestly, no even factoring in the price, which one would you rather order?
Today's architecture sucks.

When Ii lived in AZ, I was in a town that had several of these Sears homes from the early 1900's and they were not only good looking, but still solid as a rock.

Absolutely not, I could design and build one bigger than 500 sq feet for cheaper thar 40,000

Same.

Buddy just built a cabin larger than that. Him and I designed and drew it up. But he had to assemble it on an island by himself.

I've thought about building something in that price range as a lake house that we can air bnb.

Politicians in San Francisco are going to sue to have Home Depot take this down. This will cut into the $300,000 price per homeless person they’re trying to spend to get them into housing.

The sad thing is, you’re right. There is a nonprofit outside city limits of Austin trying to do a similar tiny housing thing for homeless….

Can’t do it in the city of Austin bc of the NIMBY democrats so it has to be outside city limits.

When you factor everything else in, the overall cost isn’t very impressive for something that’s 540 sq feet.

You could buy a few shipping containers and design and build something better than that thing.

Not in this environment, our mildew would eat that thing and spit it out. Ask Brad Pitt.
