This is an idealistic and foolish way to view this situation or the world. You are free to have it but don't be surprised or whine when you suffer for it. This goes for "the privacy of your own home" thought process too. The internet is not private. It is a public domain. You need to understand the difference in how things "should be" and reality.

I didn't know if it was a one time offense and expulsion or not. I expected him to face the consequence of his decision.
Son got the message, stayed inside the line the rest of the year and graduated. He is now a spec op soldier who is going to a unit less than 1/2 of 1% of all branches of the military get to try out for.
I think it worked.

I'm glad your son didn't get expelled. I can't stand zero tolerance policies. Every situation is different. Good for him for what he is doing now.
