Not that anyone cares, but I have PDF copies of the original La Sierra fitness programs. Lays out physical standards for different groups. Really cool.
Should have been implemented in all schools. We would have been/would be a much different population if JFK had successfully pushed this through. A culture of physical fitness, where it’s viewed as a social responsibility.

Competitive exercise.
Colored shorts to show superior performance.
Things we can't have these days because feelings.

yep but hell even going back to the presidential physical fitness test and requiring PE 3-4 times a week would be a good start.
for the record La Sierra didnt do the obstacle course but about twice per month.
they had pe everyday. the first 15 min was the base program. the next 45 min was about building specific skills and learning. So many days they would do the 15 min program, then spend next 45 min learning baseball or football or they may do the obsticle course.
most students loved it but their are some now that have come out against it calling it barbaric. frick em.
ftr here are the standards to get the navy blue "golds" program which was highest honor. very few got to it.
here is blue which is level 3
here is red which is level 2
i and about 98% of the rest of the population couldnt even graduate from the red team

We had to do the pegboard and climb the rope with the little knots. That shite was hard.
Also had to make a certain number of basketball shots from various places on the court.
Also remember having to run laps around the school until we threw up.
Then if we misbehaved we got popped with "black max" paddle.

Kids today are soft soft soft

most of the ones in the video were on the upper level blue or navy teams. but everyone did the program, no exceptions. everyone participated in the morning workout and then whatever the learning was for the rest of the period.
no matter your size, you wore the shorts and no shirt.
females where required to wear shorts and a tshirt.
no exceptions and your grade depended on improvement.

Not a single offensive lineman to be seen in that video.
Huge offensive linemen were just gaining steam. In the 30s and 40s, a "huge" offensive lineman was 6'2" 220 lbs haha.

They would even have players drop off of the teams if used in Football

Joe Namath was as big as any of his O Lineman at Bama. They were quicker than those of today.
The rules change over the years play a big part if change to large O and D lines.
Charley Mac's D line was never large but quick as cats,

Just telling those kids to take their shirts off would bring about 50 lawsuits
I remember playing shirts and skins during PE for basketball and flag football.
Man the lawsuits that would fly if they tried that shite today.
