Exactly. He got a tip and ran with unverified information.

Now the press conference today says the girl said nothing happened, the inmate said nothing happened, and evidence collected said nothing happened.

West Fel just gave their briefing on the whole story and said the rape allegation was totally false and was reported by an immature news reporter Chris Nakamoto

I'm curious as to why the family member reported the alleged rape to the Louisiana Dept. of Children and Family Services. Is this standard procedure?

lets not forget the same sheriffs office failed to administer a rape test kit on an angola officer accused of rape a few months back. pretty fricking irresponsible.

The suspect had admitted to the sex. What would a rape kit have done. Plus, any woman can go get a rape kit done on her own if she wants and cannot be turned down.

I don’t ever watch him bc I’m a wafb guy by habit but my mom has regarded Nakamoto as mythical legendary status. She says Nak needs to investigate basically everything and everybody that’s halfway corrupt in Baton Rouge and she threatens to call him if someone is up to no good

No it's not standard procedure as the Department of Children and Family Services would have no role in this type of investigation. Only reason they would be involved is because the complainant was trying to imply that the guardian was negligent in allowing the 13 year old girl to go the bathroom by herself. Trust me I hate DCFS and think it's basically an incompetent organization for the most part but they have no role here.

Seems very likely something is not being told. Why would they do the rape kit if nothing happened and they didn’t suspect something. The belief that the inmate said nothing happened and the 13 year old said nothing happened so nothing must have happened. It’s realky not that far of a stretch for the inmate to threaten the girl and scare the shite out of her if she said anything. Hell it can be expected he would have done that right away.

Kinda answered your own question didn’t ya.

Sure, there is a lot not being told. Like the identity of the girl, her family dynamics, what she actually said happened in the bathroom. What the inmate actually said happened. What was originally an investigation into what happened with a teen girl and an inmate alone in a bathroom turned into a circus because Nakomoto reported a flat out lie as a fact.

Did you watch the press conference? They very clearly stated that it was still an ongoing investigation and a serious issue with charges still a possibility against the inmate. But, contrary to what Nakomoto is reporting as a fact, no rape was reported and there is no evidence a rape occurred

They did the tests to make sure nothing happened. They did dna tests on both the inmate and girl and both came back negative. Both the inmate and girl said nothing happened, so not sure there's more that needs to be done to show the girl wasn't raped. I could see see why maybe the people at Angola would want to cover this up (in my opinion they actually wouldn't though), but there's no reason the sheriff's office or DA in WF parish would. The warden at Angola no doubt has some political pull in this state but it's laughable for people to think he has so much pull that he could cover up the rape of a minor. Seems like Nakmoto did some shoddy reporting in this case

Unless he can come up with something concrete here to back up what he reported, he may soon find out that he has acquisitioned and witch hunted the wrong group of people.

This isn't DeeDee Slaughter he's playing with, here.

you sure do have a lot of faith in our elected officials...sorry if the history of LA politicians make me doubt them.the inmate should have NEVER been allowed to be anywhere near the minor to begin with, but let's focus all of the anger at a reporter

The only response I'd be happy seeing is the officials running around in a very public panic trying to figure out how in the holy hell an inmate ended up in the public bathroom. I don't see that at all. I see them keeping everything quiet under the heading of "ongoing investigation."

I agree the sheriff and the DOC are hiding something.

The DOC has it own issues under Jimmie Leblanc with Warden Cane and his son that ran the other prison in Avoylles Parish.

I bet there is more to this story and they are trying to cover something up. It is like a forest fire you think you put out the fire. The ashes from that fire start a major fire in a few weeks you cannot control.

Over the last several years Nakamoto has done several "investigative" style news stories into the government of WF parish, but nothing has really come out of any of it. I know that there's a group of people in that area that would like to get rid of the powers that be in WF parish (mayor, DA, sheriff, etc...) and replace them with new blood, but they keep getting defeated during elections. I could be wrong, but I've always suspected that these are the people that are contacting Nakamoto, and that is what has led to his past and most recent "investigations". The accuracy of the information he is receiving from this group could be questionable, as it's likely politically motivated. But that's all just speculation on my part. Unfortunately in this case it appears that not enough leg work was done by Nakamoto prior to running with the whole "13 Year Old Raped At Angola" headline and it appears it may come back on him this time.

It’s now diales back to sexual assault. A rape does not have to occur for sexual assault. And then during the press conference when the man was asked something about a sexual assault or why they were in the bathroom together he replied that he wasn’t going to answer anymore questions
