It's a big problem everywhere, but especially in the northeast. Like others have mentioned, the prescription pill epidemic has led to this and its only going to get worse. My best friends lil brother died of an overdose a couple years ago. His parents have never recovered.

DEA made Vicodin schedule 2. Trickle down effect.
I imagine Vicodin on the street costs what oxy used to cost and oxy costs much more. Has to be a learning curve with heroin? I can see college kids with enough $$$ to spend on oxy now buying more than enough heroin to kill themselves.
Wonder why nobody has started making heroin pills? If they have the ability to make ecstasy pills why not heroin? Any future Walter Whites on here, you're welcome for the idea.

What would be the point? Just so people could crush them back into powder and rip em? Seems unnecessary

I saw 2 bros snorting some in the bogies bathroom a few weeks ago. One guy was telling the other one not to be a pussy.
Thought it was Coke at first, but nope herion.
Kids these days are stupid.

Never have understood why anyone does heroin or crack for the first time. No one can handle either. Too many bad stories with both.
This is coming from someone that used to smoke lots of pot and also went through a coke snorting period. Never smoked or mainlined the coke, even though others around me did.

There are many functioning heroin users.

Just a little nerd background Here. Everyone knows the DEA helped spawn this. But what major turning point affected opiates as well as other desirable drugs like adderall and vyvanse was They created and enforced the relational database across pharmacies and providers. This is how your Dr knows what meds you're on(prescribed) when you visit him. I recently (2013)changed Gen Physician to Chamberlain here in BR and at first visit his nurse rattled off my vyvanse and blood pressure meds to me as she looked at her tablet screen. Freaky cool to an IT nerd like me.
Not cool to Dr shopping drug dealers.

I have 2 little children and it scares me to death raising them in this fricked up environment. My instinct tells me to try and never bring them to a behavioral doc or any of that shite, lest I risk starting them early in the land of big pharm. I'm just a beer drinker. Stay away from everything else.
Last night at my extended family get together, there was a falling out over someone lending someone else an Adderall and then not getting paid back for it. At least it wasn't oxys or heroin but shite. It was like the entire family just took a dip on the trash scale and i was just thinking 'when the frick did this happen...?'

Doesn't surprise me. Oxys then roxys were big when I was there. When it gets to be a $100+ a day habit, people turn to cheaper options

The pharmaceutical pain meds are responsible for this. Opiates are more addictive than Coke, Crack, Alchohol, or anything else out there.
Yep...
They started using these for recreation, got hooked, government cracked down on scripts and doctor shopping then they went to heroin.

Luckily for me too much codone or codeine made me throw up but the withdrawals were horrible. Was on them for chronic back pain. Was worth going through the withdrawals instead of opting for Heroin. I can't imagine. Some people should consider new doctors or other ways to cope if it's to do with pain. As for the high, suit yourself. Never suited me.

I sing the song because I love the man. I know that some of you don't understand. Milk blood, to keep from running out.

It's everywhere.Possibly because of the DEA's restrictions on Doctors prescribing pain meds.
Not as much Oxycontin(Hillbilly Heroin)on the streets created a market for Heroin.
I wouldn't know Heroin if I saw it.I live in N.E.AL and there are a lot of overdoses here.
