It seems like it's the go to argument every time one group gets backed into a corner. "Yeah, well if your side did this, then it would be perfectly fine."

Sure there are far right extreme idiots too, but the majority of the right side seems to lean more towards logic and common sense. Landry is a Republican, but some of the crap he is pulling is incredibly ridiculous. Not all Republicans agree with him because he has an "R" next to his name. It seems that those with a "D" are incapable of using this same logic for the most part.

Workers under LA civil service are limited in how and where the can express political views. In their classroom is (well is supposed to be anyway) 100% off limits

Yep. I worked a job that was civil service a few years back. Couldn't put a political bumper sticker, yard sign, wear a shirt etc with any political candidate, or anything political, on it.

I'm guessing one of his big "issues" with Trump is "mean tweets"?

Which is an ACTUAL first amendment violation. Louisiana civil service rules shouldn't override the constitution. It's horse shite that you can't express a political opinion in your free time.

Does "Free Speech Alley" still exist at LSU? This was the type of forum that allowed someone to voice their opinions, usually religious or political, and also receive responses and debate from those students (and others) in attendance. Always an interesting experience. My memories are from the mid 1980's. A more appropriate place than in the actual classroom, where attendees were there because they wanted to be, not because they were required!

Wrong. The civil service rule comes from a retarded misreading of the state constitution where an exception is granted for public servants to "express their opinion privately." The civil service commission takes that to mean you're literally only allowed to express political opinions in private rather than (the actual correct meaning) being allowed to express an opinion outside your official capacity.

I'm specifically responding to the guy talking about civil service rules. Not about the professor

We see it from the left at EVERY major university. I would be shocked to read a "F Biden" rant from a conservative professor. I don't think either opinion belong in a Criminal Justice classroom, but that's just me I guess.
