When I was in marching band, I used to do something similar. I would run laps and then pick up my trumpet, while still out of breath, and play the most taxing songs in our repertoire. The idea is that you’re going to be out of breath at some point in your performance so you need to practice like you perform.

This sounds like a Life Championship.

Her audience is comprised of teens, tweens and the mentally ill.

Still wouldn’t mind spending a weekend with her disguised as Kelce’s mustache..

Most of her music sucks but she was able to outsmart some music executives by re-recording her prior work in order to get paid. I guess they took advantage of her when she first signed a deal or something. Very smart tactic.

Workout routine aside, it’s easy to do.

The bar for musical icons is so low. 40 years ago, this chick would have been no bigger than Debbie Gibson.

As a girl who grew up in the 80s, Debbie Gibson was a huge deal.

A Taylor Swift performance is over 2 hours long. That’s at least 2 straight hours of jogging on a treadmill while singing. Have you ever tried to sing while running? It’s incredibly taxing, and hard to keep up for more than a few minutes. She’s doing it for +2 hours/day That’s a really difficult aerobic routine.

She’d be bigger than Gibson and Tiffany but correct in that the field was a lot more crowded in the 80s. I’ve bought my wife a few of her records and albums like 1989 are quite impressive especially since she’s written most of it… can say that even as a non swiftie.

I’d do the same if I was getting paid $750mill for my performances. I currently don’t run on the treadmill or sing her songs.

i dont like or dislike her, and couldnt pick a song out from a group of songs being played. i have heard that in her shows she is routinely performing 3+ hours and never cancels, so that alone i think says a lot about her character.

A surprising number of musicians fail because they fail to realize that being a successful professional musician takes a lot of work.

Liar. I was in junior high when Gibson debuted and not even the tweeny-bopper girls I went to school with listened to that shite.

What she is doing is basically unheard of in this day and age. I give her huge props.. her dedication is through the roof. Just think about having to perform every night to crazy audiences in different countries.

A lot of them simply can’t hold up to the demands of long nightly stage performances. People often forget that many of the “great ones” like The Beatles and Van Halen started off as cover bands playing multiple gigs a day for 6-8 hours. It was a straight JOB. They had to play that well to get skilled enough as individuals and tight enough as a unit to become the prolific original artists they went on to be.

The great catch 22 of being an artist in the current era is that in order to get good enough to really make it, you have to treat it as a job, but the lower levels of music don’t pay enough to survive, so you need a day job to sustain you. But that day job takes too much time away so you can’t really get enough music work in. It’s extremely difficult to make a decent living as a musician, even as a cover band warrior, these days. The expenses are great, the barriers to entry to recording are low, but getting serious play regionally or nationally is extremely difficult. There’s zero money in streaming, and the pay for performances is often the same it was 40 years ago while the costs are 50% higher than they were just 4 years ago.

I would never recommend people pursue music as a career. But it’s a passion, an obsession, and a compulsion of mine.
