You can also feed it canned pumpkin. It helps with digestion.

When mine refuse to eat, I give them pumpkin purée and it helps soothe their tummies. You can start with just pumpkin (make sure it's 100%, not pie filling), and then incorporate cooked rice and unseasoned chicken. It does the trick and they are usually back eating their dog food within a day.
Now with that being said, two days without eating anything is worrisome. Add that to the lack of water intake, your best bet is a trip to the vet or at least a phone call. Hope your dog is okay.

My dog did that and took her in after two days of absolutely no eating. She had a very high fever (check if the nose feels very warm). Had a high white blood cell count as well indicating infection, but they couldnt really find anything. Took a few weeks to figure out the antibiotics and a few nights at the vet, but after about a grand in vet bills, my dog is happily eating and shedding like a mofi in my house again.

After many many tests, all coming back negative, my friend still doesn't know what caused her dog to suddenly stop eating and drinking, but she should have brought him in sooner because he was pretty dehydrated and had a long vet stay on IV fluids as a result. He only weighed 12 lbs and was down to 8. He's back up to 10 now.

Bowel obstruction - needs a vet now and likely surgery. Could be volvulus or something he ingested.

Hope it continues. I'd keep doing the skin test for hydration if he doesn't increase his drinking to normal.

Last time i visited the LSU vet school it was Dr. David Baker that took care of Mike. He and I talked about it for some time.
OP: Hopefully you're in the clear. IF this is not resolved tomorrow call your vet.

Our lab has terrible allergies that causes his sinuses to drain and gives him a sore throat. He won't eat and has to go to the vet for a shot and a round of antibiotic. Sometimes every few weeks, sometimes he goes a few months between bouts. The vet will give him prednisone if it's really bad, but doesn't like to give it to him too often because of the side effects. It does increase his appetite, though. As long as he's on it, he eats well. When he's not, he's reluctant.

Yeah, prednisone for very long is not optimal. Vet is hoping it's short term.

if the dog stops eating again you may want to get it tested for hypoadrenocorticism (Addisons Disease). It's often a missed diagnosis.

I don't know. Dr. Alfred Stephens (think that is his name) used to. Big pic of Mike and everything. Maybe things changed.
